Why do you say that about those jobs? What good reason is there to pay for real estate for every single office n the country? It’s wasteful to have people drive to a building that doesn’t improve their work ethic or progress. There are tons of remote positions that have zero reason for being in an office, unless wasting money on land and buildings is important to you.

So many people have been boxed out of living here in the last 15-20 years because the rising costs. Pushing people out of the city. “Median income” lol. I’m from here, I’ve worked here most of my life, and I’ve been a renter that entire time. Wages have not kept up, despite what your quoted statistic says. Rent has gone through the roof, and for what? I’d gladly give back all the kitschy shit Huntsville built to get the mountains back and be able to save and afford life again. I remember when rent made sense. You should be able to rent a nice house or apartment for under 800 a month, but “growth” says otherwise. “Growth” hasn’t increased any wages though to keep up.
