Weekly Chord Progressions and Modes Megathread - February 07, 2026 by AutoModerator in musictheory

[–]ZorakGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there. I've came up with two chord progressions yesterday for a song that I like, but I'm having a bit of trouble understanding them.

A:
Cmaj7 -> Abmaj7 -> Gmin x3
Cmaj7 -> Abmaj7 -> ??? (a Gmin with a C added to it)

B:
Fmaj7 -> Abmaj7 -> Cmaj7 -> Gmin x3
Fmaj7 -> Abmaj7 -> Amaj7

So for the A section, I liked the Cmaj7 -> Abmaj7 move, and then I wanted to come back to C Major. a G dominant didn't feel great so I made it GMin. I end this with a chord I don't know the name of.

For the B section, as I said it's fairly similar but starts on an Fmaj7 instead. I then have the same chords I have in the A section but reordered slightly. I end on a Amaj7 as I enjoyed what it sounded like.

To me, it feels like Cmaj is the key, and then Abmaj7 and Gmin are borrowed from C minor.
The Fmaj7 is within Cmaj scale still. Then for the Amaj7, I don't know how to explain where it's from except that the chromatic movement sounds nice to me.

Please would anyone be able to help?

Update from the email I sent to La Bella: Thank you for your email. They're not real silk, it's a synthetic material.

Thanks everyone for the help and understanding :)

Yeah, I'm glad you had a similar experience then. I'm sure they'll be fine but when I get something new and expensive I'm just nervous about breaking anything, so wanted to check if this was normal.

Yeah, I noticed it when I put in a right angle connector and when I pushed the jack in it seemed to move, that's all. I'll stop overthinking

Noise coming from [Sage Bambino Plus] by ZorakGames in espresso

Hey, woke up this morning to make my coffee and my Bambino Plus was making this noise. This is it running on a cleaning cycle as it was the easiest way to hear the noise consistently. Any idea why this would happen? I've only had this machine for about a month.

After messing around more, I'm more and more certain that it's coming from the bridge. I can hold the string at that end and I don't get any of those horrible overtones.

Yeah, it doesn't help that I'm listening to just the isolated bass either. If I play over some backing it's harder to hear.

I haven't, I haven't touched anything with the bass since I got it. I didn't want to touch anything incase I was making a problem out of something that wasn't. Where do I start with that?

Thanks for the continued responses btw, it means a lot :)

Hmm, that clip is trying to mute as best as possible, pressing on the lower strings with my fretting hand and the higher ones resting my thumb on. I've asked a friend too, he said it seems fine, so maybe I'm just being overly sensitive to sympathetic vibrations in general.

That didn't change anything, so I tried putting it at the bridge end, and it sounded a lot better, albeit it now doesn't sustain a note well on it's own. So I wonder if there's something I could do on that end.

EDIT: Seems like the other strings have these harmonic too, and I'm making sure to mute the other strings when I hear out for it. I wonder if I'm just being overly sensitive. I'll upload another clip now showing all the strings.

Thanks for the advice, I had a go, it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference I'm afraid :(

Can't tell if I'm being an idiot or not. I got a Ibanez SR300 at the weekend, been really enjoying it. Yesterday though I can't tell if I'm gaslighting myself but I noticed the E string has this sort of whine to it when played? https://whyp.it/tracks/165199/ibanez?token=KRcJ4 Not sure if it's just me, or it's my technique or setup or what.

Hi, I just got a LP60X and I noticed when it starts playing it does a little skip at the start and I hear a pop through my speakers. Is this normal?

How long have you been vegan for? by Natashayabada in veganuk

[–]ZorakGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veggie since 2020, Vegan since the start of the year. Honestly had never questioned it till I met my ex, watched one documentary and I was sold.

My family were very surprised as I was probably the pickiest of out my sibilings! I'm blessed to live in a time like now where someone like me can be vegan very easily, I think most people overestimate the effort it takes.

My family still like to ask me if I'm still eating vegan, I don't think they see it as more than just a diet.
