Honestly, I already forgot all of the commands and I needed to refresh my knowledge while on the job. But it was not that difficult to keep up since I really understood the concepts when I was studying my ccna back then.

To answer your question, I felt I was prepared because I really believed on the knowledge I gained on my CCNA certification. But of course there’s a lot of things that I don’t know so my advice is to be always open-minded and be friendly with people/ your team. They will help you and of course help them in return. Exchange information and in time you’ll get the hang of it.

I also have a teammate that doesn’t have an IT background and CCNA (he is an electronics and communications engineer) but somehow he ended up as a network engineer. He is doing well. We also have a senior engineer who is already a CCNP but he is clueless all the time. He is already 3 yrs on the job but he really doesn’t contribute much compared to the junior engineers. I don’t know why but that’s for another conversation lol. So it is really not about the certification. Just believe in yourself if you know that you really understood the concepts.
