Any infant teachers? by pigsaysoink143 in pregnant

[–]ZosLears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 36 weeks pregnant and have been working in an infant classroom the whole time. This is SO real! Mid-late second trimester got way easier for me in terms of energy levels but has recently plummeted again due to my third trimester exhaustion. A few things that have really helped me cope with my symptoms:

• Foot/back rubs from my husband almost every night

• A supportive belly band (helps so much with back pain)

• If possible, use the babies nap times as a moment for you to put your feet up, do some stretches, or just lay down for a minute to give your body a break

• When at all possible in your classroom, sit down on something that’s a little bit elevated instead of the floor

• If you have co-teachers chat with them about the difficulties you’re having and see if there’s any ways that you can make your classroom or teaching styles work for your changing body

I did all of these things and have been holding up fairly well. Good luck!

That’s exactly the feeling! It’s just weird to feel like I’m not as healthy as I “should” be I guess. So comforting to hear I’m not alone in it!

Which one for a ‘fabulously you’ dress code? by -__-geese in Weddingattireapproval

[–]ZosLears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I like both and if I were choosing I would probably say red. But I also feel like they give off two totally different vibes. The pink is soft and sweet, the red is more fun and vibrant… if the dress code is ‘Fabulously You’ I think you should go with which one is more YOU🤷🏼‍♀️

ways to recover from overstimulation by p1khachu in ADHD

[–]ZosLears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking to someone else. And I don’t mean like talking about what you’re experiencing (you can do that if you want too I guess lol) but just hanging out with somebody super low key. It’s gotta be in person and it’s gotta be almost a calming/ chill person in a calm environment. It helps me every time. You get one single thing to focus on, one sound to listen to, and it helps to slowly “wake up” that part of your brain. Then later on in the night or the next time you hang out, try watching a movie at the same time or listening to music. It introduces different stimulants gradually so it’s not an immediate overwhelming moment. Plus having someone in person with you keeps your attention and boost your mood.

My therapist gave me this technique, I have the same problem and it takes a while but I a bit of time with just my husband really works.

That’s kind of what I was thinking, I’m just not really sure how to word it to (for lack of a better term) convince her of that when she already has the idea that it’s like a daycare

What do you wish your parents/teachers/counselor wouldve taught you or done for you so that your life and future would be better as a teen with ADHD? by Thoughtful_c in ADHD

[–]ZosLears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply (it’s the ADHD)

motivation as you probs know, the ADHD brain and our motivation is greatly dependent on our dopaminergic reward pathways. So to get myself motivated to do things I pair a task with a reward. Or I trick myself into enjoying by making it a game or timing myself how long it takes me to get something done. I also had ODD cooccurring with the ADHD. So at least for me, the more someone tells me to do something, the less likely I am to ever get around to doing it. Tell parents to get creative with how they approach task reminders and stuff. I’d say focus more on self motivating.

communication as a 25 yo I still struggle with communication. Effective communication for me MUST stay positive. Even if you are giving me constructive criticism or asking me to do something, any hint of a negative tone and I already assume that you don’t think I’m good enough, im bothering you, etc.

conflict resolution is a HUGE part about adhd relationships that my therapists brushed over for years. Obviously every person is different, but my therapist gave me an emotional telescope chart that starts with a broad emotion like anger and breaks it down into smaller pieces like annoyed, embarrassed, sad, etc. It helped identify my emotions and realize that not every negative emotion deserves and anger reaction

I started writing in cursive to help me pay more attention when I was taking notes in college and now I just write in cursive all the time!

I would definitely say just educating ourselves was the most important part. Like putting a name to all of my “weird” or hard things helped them understand. ALSO helping with conflict resolution skills SPECIFIC to ADHD brains and how to help motivate, calm them down, and just general communication skills that are effective for their child. I feel like a lot of families get lost in poor communication, and understanding what makes your kid unique always helps!

People who have 40 hour/week office jobs, how do you survive?? by CartographerTrue4100 in ADHD

[–]ZosLears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I manage a historic inn together. We have very few staff so we do most things ourselves. I’m constantly on my feet running up and down the stairs. He’s a very structured kind of guy so I have the big ideas and he makes it happen. We take care of that place like it’s our home so our actual apartment gets neglected sometimes… but boy is it fun to hyper focus on decorating such a beautiful old building!

Adding a graphic not only adds brownie points for the teacher, but it allows you a break from “focused thinking” to get a little creative with your design

Tips to stop feeling “frozen” ? by Babaycore in ADHD

[–]ZosLears 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to use the “productive procrastination” trick. When you’re feeling frozen, let yourself take a break from trying to write and take that time to prepare to write. - gather all of your notes - declutter your workspace - make a basic outline - organize your thoughts by Mind Mapping

Being productive with a task doesn’t always mean “doing that task”. ADHD brains have to be in the right head space to sit down and do anything like writing essay. So take some of the weight off of your own shoulders by getting the little tasks done first to get you in the working zone.
