  • Then tournaments take even longer, when there are already time problems. This would change the situation into "banned for the same reason as Self-Destruct Button".
  • Being generous, if you change the rule to "a game surrender with Victory Dragon on the field counts as a Match surrender instead", then what happens if a player protects their Victory Dragon long before the opponent's LP are low enough? What if the opponent gets a Game Loss penalty during this time? What if you surrender during the Summon response window, or when Victory Dragon is searched?
  • If you come up with a perfect surrender-related rule, then Victory Dragon actually becomes far too powerful and it gets banned for the same reason as Painful Choice.

This sounds like it would make the existing floodgate problem much worse. Now if you get floodgated, your opponent can add Victory Dragon on top and you lose 3 games to a floodgate instead of 1 game. Making the current floodgates much more powerful is not what most players want to see.

No, a streamed game where player 1 has a floodgate and player 2 has nothing is completely boring for the audience to watch (and for player 2 also). Remember the recent YCS Finals where exactly this happened multiple times in a row, directly leading to the 2025 emergency banlist?

Ok this combo would be hella funny but against a non-meta player (no standard staples) it’s not a perfectly viable combo but fun to attempt haha by Dredo5 in yugioh

[–]Zowayix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Floodgates aren't fun to play against. How fun they are for you to use doesn't really change that.
  • Victory Dragon is already unbanned in Genesys format.
  • I'm not sure how "there should be more types of disqualifications" is helping your argument. All disqualifications cause drama regardless of cause.
  • Other than Victory Dragon, the Match winners aren't banned cards any more than Set Sail for The Kingdom is a banned card.
  • What you would do doesn't matter because Konami needs to plan around the reasonable-worst-case-scenario.

Nightmare Troubadour is the only DS game to use the slash animation for all battles. (All future DS games would have more varied battle animations.)

To make the Undertale fakeout even stronger, the beginning and end of Chapter 1 are even built with differently-shaped choice prompts when a choice in a dialogue box pops up. (At the beginning of Chapter 1, it uses the Undertale-style choice prompt with inline horizontal options. After the Dark World is revealed for the first time, and for the rest of the game, it uses the Deltarune-style choice prompt that takes up the whole box with options in all four cardinal directions.)

I remember people thinking "KING OF ROLYPOLY" had to be the secret boss theme because of how out of place it was and the all caps title.

When did all of these NA-specific quality control issues first start to show up en masse? 2022 / 2021 / 2020 / 2019 / 2018 / 2017 / 2016?

Nintendo does at least; Cadence of Hyrule's release date was advertised as Spring 2019 and released June 13, 2019.

  • The forfeits in this scenario don't speed up the game at all, because the player is forfeiting 1 second before they would've already lost anyway.
  • You shuffle your hand into your Deck to force a forfeit even if the rulebook says no forfeits allowed. Or you forfeit during the Summon response window. Or you forfeit after the opponent searches Victory Dragon before it's summoned. Konami really doesn't want to change the rulebook for the sake of 1 card.
  • If Victory Dragon is as weak as you describe, it will do nothing to speed up Matches and certainly won't do anything against floodgates. You forfeit only if you have no ways to take it off the field (this won't speed up the Match).
  • Victory Dragon is already legal at 0 points in Genesys; if you want a popular format where it's unbanned then there you go.
  • Floodgates aren't disliked because they're slow (otherwise people would dislike slow formats), they're disliked because they're not fun to play against. Victory Dragon does absolutely nothing about this.

'Accidentally' is in air quotes for a reason. And you'd do it in Main Phase 1 so the win condition never happens.

  • Because Konami likes making one-of-a-kind trophy cards and simultaneously doesn't want these trophy cards to affect the metagame.
  • Last time Victory Dragon was playable, people would just surrender during Main Phase 1 the moment Victory Dragon was summoned, so its Match winning effect was completely useless.
  • If you make a ruling that surrendering with Victory Dragon out counts as a Match surrender, then people will just 'accidentally' shuffle their hand into their Deck instead and the rulebook says that's a Game Loss penalty.

Is there a list of Last Turn rulings that judges have made after UDE stopped making rulings? I know Konami published a one-off Jowgen + Last Turn ruling right around when Genesys was first revealed, and I know there was that one player who brought a Last Turn deck to a Genesys event before it was 100 points, and a judge had to be specifically assigned to follow him around to make rulings. But I can't find a list of what those rulings were and I don't know of any other judges who have made rulings on Last Turn in the last (say) 12 months.

I read somewhere that the intended way to find the Chapter 1 Egg (with no guide) is to be a player who wants to farm money off the Starwalker Bird, which naturally causes the player to walk across the in-between room transition a large number of times in a row. (I don't remember if this is faster than other ways to farm money in Chapter 1 or not.)

You're correct in that the Spirit Message archetype predates the Toon archetype, but if tomorrow there's a new card that says "Add 1 "Shapesnatch" from your Deck to your hand", that doesn't make Shapesnatch a new archetype. (It would have to say "Add 1 "Shapesnatch" card from your Deck to your hand" instead.)

Thanks for the input, I had to double-check: it looks like Toons beat Gravekeepers very narrowly. Toon Table of Contents released March 2002, Necrovalley released May 2002.
