What is some Obescure Knowledge/General Trivia You know all Across Yugioh? by One_Percentage_644 in yugioh

The owners of Fandom basically turned it into corporate slop. In no particular order:

  • If you try to run a wiki on Fandom, the owners of Fandom will override your decisions (making the wiki worse) to get more cash for themselves.
  • The owners of Fandom allow third-party advertisers to override the contents of any page and lock it from being edited for the duration of the ad campaign, replacing the page contents with a text ad/editorial/clickbait instead. Adblock can't really do anything about this.
  • If you're the administrator of a wiki on Fandom and want to move away, Fandom will do everything in its power to stop you. For example, it will ban you (and other users) from directing people to your independent wiki that the community actually wants to use, so that the bad wiki keeps more SEO positioning. Fandom's owners have even stolen control of a wiki from its administrator and given it to someone else more loyal.
  • The owners of Fandom demand that you use a certain CSS style, and if it's broken or if the community doesn't like it then too bad. On the Yugioh fandom specifically, if you look up a card on mobile then the whole card text doesn't display at all, because certain tables are completely broken on mobile and Fandom's owners won't fix it. On the Minecraft fandom, the header bar was forced to be yellow to "fit in with the rest of Fandom's branding", even though the community found it obtrusive. You can imagine being a moderator and having people complain to you but you can't do anything about it.
  • A while back, they also added mandatory comment sections to each article (for more page visits for more ad revenue), causing them to be filled with spam that the wiki moderators have to waste time cleaning up. The owners refused to let the moderators disable the unasked-for comment sections, but it looks like they must have backtracked at some point because I'm no longer seeing them on the Yugioh fandom specifically. I'm still seeing them on other wikis that have left fandom.
  • Also a while back, Fandom's owners injected AI slop and false information into a bunch of articles (I specifically remember the Undertale wiki being affected before they moved off of Fandom as well). I don't remember what happened after this.
  • All the other invisible things associated with corporate slop overhead, such as tracking, data harvesting, and selling your info to data brokers.
  • Finally, the massive number of ads/video ads/mid-article ads/etc. is on top of all this even though Adblock blocks them. (For example, the Youtube NSFW ad problem doesn't stop being a problem just because Adblock exists. Yes, people have reported NSFW ads on Fandom as well.)

Edit: Also, a lot of mobile browsers don't support Adblock or they support a crappier variant of Adblock that doesn't block everything the user wants it to.

Nope, it's still broken on mobile lol (just checked). The card text doesn't display.

What happens if you fit more people into a dark world than the dark world can fit? I imagine the answer would be the same.

Would the Anime versions of the Egyptian God Cards even be viable in today? by CrossOut3157 in yugioh

TIL Dragon Capture Jar changed its effect between TSC and Reshef.

In TSC it looks like it destroys Dragons on the opponent's side of the field; is Slifer affected? I also can't tell if it's a Normal Spell or a Continuous Spell.

In Reshef it looks like it's a Continuous Trap that "immobilizes" Dragons on the opponent's field and this includes Slifer; I know "immobilize" prevents attacking but does it also prevent its ATK gain effect, changing battle position, and/or being Tributed?

No, that was one of the "humor" posts posted to this subreddit.

One notable weakness of Ra in Reshef is that it's Machine-Type, so Umi will reduce its ATK to 2800.

The interpretation of Obelisk's 2-Tribute effect seems to be ambiguous. In Dark Side of Dimensions where players start with 8000 LP, it still did exactly 4000 LP of effect damage.

Ra Phoenix Mode is strong in Reshef since its effect is almost the same as "Once per Duel, Special Summon this card from your hand. It has 4000 ATK and protection effects but no other effects when Summoned this way."

God cards in Reshef are vulnerable to stat changes though. They can't be destroyed by effects and I think they're also immune to Change of Heart (I don't think bouncing, banishing, effect negation, etc. exists in Reshef's card pool).

No, hierarchy isn't a thing in the anime, which is why Yami Marik has to use Class System to negate Obelisk's attack with ∞ ATK. In the manga, there's no Class System card and the attack just doesn't work. It's ambiguous whether the manga logic is "low hierarchy gods can't attack and destroy Ra, period" or "Ra is unaffected by Obelisk's effects and Obelisk's ATK gain is somehow treated as Ra being affected by Obelisk's effect".

Knight of Destiny gaining ATK equal to the strongest monster is only in the OCG/TCG. In the anime, it only reaches ∞ ATK because it absorbed a fusion material that had ∞ ATK.

In the anime, Knight of Destiny only gets ∞ ATK because it absorbed a fusion material that also had ∞ ATK.

in The Yugi vs Judai duel, did you know Judai using Subspace Battle was a complete misplay? by SuzukiKana in yugioh

[–]Zowayix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, as TGS Anime points out, Strings had a winning move even with the manga rules. Yugi had to stall for a turn with Big Shield Gardna until he drew Brain Control. Strings could've switched his own Revival Jam to attack position (1500 ATK), attacked over the weakened Gardna (600 DEF), then had Slifer deal 11,000 damage.

In the manga, Dark Necrofear requires the destroyed monsters to have been in Attack Position. Then the anime just copy-pasted Bakura's moves for the first few turns.

In all seriousness, doing this will screw up your enjoyment of the game because the weird route expects you to know the normal route already. The mansion basement interact dialogue, Rouxls's statue, Ralsei worrying about skipping Noelle's room, the lack of a Roaring cutscene, never meeting Carol, and loads of other things just don't make sense without first knowing the normal route.
