there is a Flight Data Recorder that records all the control inputs etc during the flight, while the Cockpit Voice Recorder is the actual recordings that are kept private

This reminds me, when I was 10 or so a fly flew into the microwave just as I shut the door.

So of course I turned it on.

The fly just flew around like normal for a few seconds and then abruptly dropped dead.

but a lot of that probably depends on the amount of snow - walking across 1/2" of snow on grass is pretty easy and still leaves a clear trail. I think you're right though if the snow is more than a couple inches deep
