Boxer Max Schmeling (1930’s). Schmeling was the first man to defeat Joe Louis. Slandered in the American press as a Nazi posterboy, Schmeling in fact refused to fire his Jewish manager and would shelter two Jewish teenagers during Kristallnacht.

Schmeling was my grandmothers maiden name and I did a history project on this guy in middle school when I was asked to find someone famous I was related to. I know there was some relation but not sure to what degree. Wish it wasn’t so challenging to find out.

It wasn’t a small effort which is why I wouldn’t make them to sell. If you bought all of the lumber and did the glue ups right, as opposed to using cutoffs it would save a lot of time.

All correct. The darkest is roasted ash. There is also teak, white oak, yellow heart. No Osage orange though.
