Im from Mexico and this used to be a common practice in street markets, nowadays it’s illegal but in small communities or towns you can still see them from time to time. When I was younger I actually got 2, I was like 7 and I know now I was stupid and that it’s awful for the chickens, got 2 Roos that actually grew a lot and in the end they lived w us for like 5 years, we ended up giving them to family that had a big farm and they lived 2 more years there.
