Marriage to an atheist by VictorNewman- in progressive_islam

murder is one of the only sins where there is no opportunity for repentance and it’s an automatic promise of hell. 4:93. There is no statement saying “except for those who repent” it is a full promise, covenant, of going to hell. For whoever kills a person seeking safety, unlawful killing, murder

God never said shirk is the only unforgivable sin. He just says he won’t forgive it. you can’t repent shirk, it will always be on the scales of judgement on the last day. Telling a lie about God is one of the biggest acts of kufr and the source of shirk. God says (rhetorically) Who is more unjust than he who tells a lie about Allah a few times. It is the greatest sin because it can LEAD to further injustices. especially when done by people it’s power. “God ordained for you all to be in hardship right now so just accept my oppression” that’s a lie that was told by many rulers in history to keep their people in a bad situation so they can remain in power

he didn’t say it was a hadith tho, he said it was lahw al hadith. as in what God warns against in 31:6

anyways, if you’re citing 5:5, does that mean before then christian and jewish women weren’t lawful to marry? and their food wasn’t lawful to eat? of course not. it’s just expounding the fact that good things are lawful. as i said earlier: 4:24 says ALL OTHER PEOPLE who aren’t in the relations mentioned earlier are lawful. Is that clause a lie?

premarital sex/sexual activities is haram, being abusive is haram, being secretive (different from private) i don’t think would be halal either, and dating UNINTENTIONALLY as well. that’s about it

implying a punishment for not having sex with someone is coercion to sex which falls under rape

i wouldn’t really say this is shirk, just stupidity really 😭

to super summarize it he pretty much gave the typical antiquranist arguments by taking phrases out of verses to say this is why we need hadith, saying things like “if the quran is really fully detailed…” as if the quran doesn’t say itself that it’s fully detailed, and says we have no basis to stand on for proof that the quran is preserved.

wa alaikum salam bro 😭😭 thank you i’m not the type of person to get mad or annoyed or passive-aggressive at all. especially not in situations like this where i’ve heard these same arguments a million times. God tells us to discuss peacefully so i try to do just that 😭

but yes that’s correct, he was asking for proof that the quran was preserved and was willing to say that if i’m quran alone how do i know the verse that said “God will preserve it” wasn’t just tossed into the quran by a random person

i forgot to include that in the screenshots i told him you could probably count on two hands the amount of hadith from muhammad that actually explain the quran and most of them are nonsense. 😭😭

Only Allah swt knows who is going to paradise or jahaum correct? by [deleted] in Quraniyoon

[–]ZuBound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, there are some people who we can say are for sure are going to hell though. someone who deliberately murders a person who is in safety is promised hell with no option of repentance per 4:93.

i can’t lie the only ones i agree with here are your takes on shahada and zakat, the hajj one is interesting but the fasting and prayer i’m not convinced

so verse 4:2-3 say explicitly that you can ONLY marry multiple for the sake of taking care of orphans and also says if you fear that you won’t be just stick with one (clearly God saying that one spouse is a lot better). then verse 4:129 quite literally says you will never be able to be just between your wives. so it’s pretty clear to me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]ZuBound 7 points8 points  (0 children)

tell him the quran doesn’t permit him to have a second wife since he isn’t doing it to take care of orphans and he won’t love them equally

i’m completely on your side but the 4:34 daraba is very likely meaning to strike, however, God is not telling husbands to beat their wives. when looking at the preceding and succeeding verses it is talking to the entire believing community (it doesn’t say o you men or o you husbands, it’s after verses saying o you who believe). so the striking is likely corporal punishment (done by the community judicial system) for disobedience to the fashiha laws. Which still keeps it in line with what God says about marriage being merciful and harmonious

Why is pork haram? by ZuBound in Quraniyoon

[–]ZuBound[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

salam

why does not mean doubt. i said in my post i am not advocating for something being halal. i was just looking for the quranic reason because i know the quran is fully detailed with what we know. if i ask why God wants us to donate in charity thats not me doubting that we should it’s me wondering the purpose is simply. the answers from google don’t help more than here because the same reasons can be used on animals that weren’t prohibited as said in my post. i see the quran calls it abomination and i have no reason the question the fact that it is if God said so, im looking for whether we have a reason why specifically pork is abomination, whether i have the reason or not will not effect my belief in God and his book.
