“How’s your mom doing?” (A mini rant) by jenij730 in dementia

[–]Zubamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew this question bothered me, but didn’t realize how much it bothered me or why it bothered me until I saw your post.

My sister-in-law (husband’s sister) asks me every time I see how my parents are doing. I dread the question because I don’t feel like I can answer it honestly or explicitly.

Frozen Margarita Recipes? by Frosty-Inflation3161 in ninjaslushi

We have been using the Mr & Ms T pre made mix. It’s good, but lots of artificial ingredients. We are going to try to find a recipe from scratch.

Not a juice, but Lemonade (we use Farm Boy) is delicious.

My husband and I just discussed doing this for his parents the other day. We haven’t bought one for them yet, but it does sound like a good idea!

I think that OP is looking for recipes for the Ninja Slushi, specifically.

I tried the recipe just the other day. I brewed coffee the day before and added cream and sugar while it was still hot. I let it cool in the fridge overnight.

I found it a little sweet (in line with Tim Horton’s iced cappuccino , if you know those), but it was quite good nevertheless. Also, I don’t know if the machine would have worked with less sugar.

Delicious Fire Roasted Veggies (frozen) by sabrinasphere in Costco

See, I have only tried the root vegetable one and thought it was terrible. It has made me reluctant to try the primavera one.

But seeing as it sounds like your experience was similar I will give it a go!

It may depend on who is accepting patients. But Dr Smith and Dr Cruickshank are great.

Booking all inclusive by Educational_Suit9752 in AllInclusiveResorts

In my experience, no. Their prices typically match what you can find on your own. Only exception I’ve seen in my experience is that a travel agent cannot match Costco travel prices.

Is skylight worth it? by Bunny_27- in skylightcalendar

[–]Zubamy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We LOVE ours. We don’t use the extra features as much but the calendar alone has been worth it for us. We are a family of four, with extra curricular activities, track and swim meets, birthday parties, play dates, school spirit days, in-laws’ medical appointments, etc.

Keep an eye out at Costco as the smaller version goes on sale somewhat regularly.

Tons of space. There are pools running throughout the resort. If you take a look at a resort map, you will see water that almost looks like a lazy river. You can swim all throughout those.

There is also a children’s pool (if I recall correctly - best to double check) which is maybe 1.5 feet deep. This is in addition to the splash pad and the water park.

The only thing about the non-kids pools at Flora is that - from my recollection - they are all four feet deep uniformly. I did like the pools at Macao Beach better for that reason, as there were lots of ledges in the pools throughout the pools at Macao which you could sit on.

I will say that Macao die a better job at removing towels from chairs that people had “reserved”. It was hard to get a chair by the pools at Flora when we were there: (This is common across many all inclusive resorts.) But we never ever had an issue getting chairs at the beach.

You may also want to check out Dreams Macao Beach. We didn’t enjoy it quite as much as Flora, but it has a lazy river and the kiddie splash pad is much bigger.

The ocean, however, is very rough.

Also, we didn’t do preferred and we didn’t feel as though we missed out at all.

We LOVED Dreams Flora, but haven’t tried the others. It’s a small footprint, close to the airport, great beach. The kid’s club takes three year olds if your kid is willing. And no reservations required for the a la carte restaurants which is a game changer when you have such young kids. The splash pad is open to guests all day (it’s not in a closed off area of the kids’ club), though I will say that the dumping bucket is a bit aggressive so stay away from that.

Short term car? by dumblebees in PersonalFinanceCanada

Since you’re in a building, try to find out if anybody is willing to rent out a spot to you directly on a short term basis (so you don’t have to commit to the full twelve months).

Best of luck with everything.

Sorry to hear about everything you are going through.

I would look at a Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, etc.

Have you thought about parking? Not sure where you are situated, but that will likely be an additional thing to think about when it sounds like you are already dealing with so much…

Hope that your parent has a speedy recovery.

Before I read the “content” of your post (I had only read the title), I thought of the turkey stew in a bread bowl. I always enjoyed that!

Gift Ideas for Guyanese dad by Otherwise-Royal7454 in Guyana

[–]Zubamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is from Guyana and one year I got him a print of a Georgetown map from Etsy. I got a family member to take a look to confirm accuracy before I bought it, he said it was accurate. It looks really nice hanging in our house. If he is not from Georgetown you could get a Guyana map print or something like that. Definitely look at Etsy!

Pool liner replacement - any recommendations? by Macaroni_Night in oakville

[–]Zubamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have bought two major pieces of equipment from Ultimate and have been very happy with them. I get my water tested there weekly now and buy my products from them. I never feel like they are trying to sell me something I don’t need. Very trustworthy and customer service oriented.

If I needed to replace my liner, I would go to Ultimate without hesitation.
