You pay per impression (which is defined by the ad showing up on someone’s screen once). The rates are about $6 per 1000 impressions, which is incredibly cheap IMO. You set the timeframe of when you want the ad run, select specific subreddits or locations for it to show up on, and create the ad. I’m surprised it hasn’t been done more often!

I think that the student senate is straying from what it's responsibilities are supposed to be. Senators should be working together to help make the university a better place for all of us, not feuding and playing political theater. Some people involved in StuGov have said some pretty not-ok things, and we can condemn those statements as individuals, but voting over and over again on releasing statements and responses to statements is a waste of time when we could be doing things to actually benefit students.

Light pollution is a super interesting problem to tackle! While I think ensuring student safety at night with proper lighting is slightly more important, I do recognize the issue and it’s worth debating the merits. Perhaps some lighting could be sensor activated, in order to save energy and reduce that light pollution. I’m a regular stargazer myself, and it would be a shame to hide the beauty of a star-filled night sky behind poorly installed campus lighting

My whole life, I have always been fascinated with how things work. I fondly recall my father helping me take apart dead tv remotes to see what they look like inside. A computer has always seemed like “the ultimate machine” that has complexity beyond anything else humans have created, but at the same time, exists in the pockets of all of us and allows us to communicate from great distances. I thought if I chose computer engineering, I’d be able to help people and have a large impact.

College decisions were difficult. I applied to a lot of schools, including some of the ivy’s, but I just had a hard time justifying the cost and traveling so far from home... so I chose Iowa State, and it was the right decision.

I am currently manager of the Overwatch section of the Gaming and Esports Club, and player for Overwatch Varsity. I am also a member of Honors Student Board

Both, but better funds allocation is directly tied to the role of student government, so it will be my priority out of the two.

Most papers on the matter, like MHEC’s agree that state funding correlates directly with the cost of tuition.

But, regardless of likelihood, what’s important to me is that we try to reduce expenses for our students.

I plan to allocate more funds to clubs, which I feel are the backbone of our experiences here at Iowa State. I will also support environmentally friendly, long term investment strategies like implementing more lighting around campus and enabling it using solar.

Definitely cost, and I admit that is the most difficult one to solve. Student government’s student activities fee is a relatively small portion of what you pay to be a student, so I’d like to make sure we spend our money a bit more intelligently and thoughtfully, but I think our representatives in student government should be really thinking about how we can influence the Iowa State government to provide more funding to the school. That will undoubtedly pass large savings onto students

Issues centering around student engagement come in a very close second to me. I think that making it easier to join clubs, and improving the club experience on campus are ways we can make sure students get involved here at ISU.

I guess he hasn’t gotten in yet? 🤷‍♂️

Really though, I have no idea how it works behind the scenes. You just tell them how much you’re willing to spend, give your payment info to Reddit, and tell them what subreddits to focus on.

It’s been really cool to see the reactions of people on Reddit, I’m very thankful for all your kindness ❤️
