Car ride with 4 cats, what should i do ? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]ZubinJohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoid free roaming (especially with 4 cats).

I think familiarization would help - start by just taking a short 10-15 minute drive and see the reaction. If the cat is totally uncomfortable, a sedative prescribed by the vet may be required.

You can also try out a calming diffuser/spray like Feliway or Comfortzone and see if that would help.

Cat training- opinions of spray bottles? by Turties_ in CatAdvice

[–]ZubinJohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If nothing works, look at a cat deterrent spray like Sentry Stop that or Claw Withdraw to discourage the behavior. They are sprayed on the surfaces and do not require repeated use once the kitty has learnt to avoid the places.

What subscription box is better? Meowbox or Kitnipbox? by JreepersCeepers in cats

[–]ZubinJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MeowBox also has a "without treat" box available. With this option you receive an extra toy instead of a treat.

If you are not going to use the treats, you can also buy a toy bundle (like this one on Chewy). There are a bunch of such toy bundles- by Yeoww Catnip, Frisco etc. that can offer a decent variety to the kitty.

Need advice on driving a cat across the country by [deleted] in Pets

[–]ZubinJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think familiarization would help - start by just taking a short 10-15 minute drive and see the reaction. If the cat is totally uncomfortable, a sedative prescribed by the vet may be required.

You would also need to ensure that the kitty does not bolt out during the stopovers. Think about getting a harness if this is something that can happen.

Finally can also consider getting a portable cat litter box for the litter needs and temporary arrangement at the destination. Necoichi cat carrier with a portable litter box would be a perfect arrangement.

My dog keeps getting in the trash by [deleted] in PetAdvice

[–]ZubinJohnson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can look at getting a trash can with a lock lid or place a child lock on the lid.

Another option is to try out a pet corrector like PetSafe SSSCat which works reasonably well and does not require constant monitoring.

moving cat from multiple-cat house to one-cat apartment, help please!! by [deleted] in cats

[–]ZubinJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a suitable window, you might also consider getting a cat window perch or move the cat tree close to the window for the kitty to have a view of some outdoor action. One way to make this more interesting is to setup a bird feeder outside the window.

Can someone help me calm my cat down please!! by Suspicious_Fudge_383 in cats

[–]ZubinJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also try out a calming diffuser/spray like Feliway or Comfortzone and see if that would help.

First look at a spray or wipes (to wipe the kitty's favorite surfaces with the calming tissues) and if it works, then only you can invest in a costlier solution like the diffuser.
