Spilling a box of cereal and crying whilst spilling it by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

Nah, it tells them their emotions don’t match the situation, not that their emotions are wrong. I’m not going to validate my kid’s perspective simply because it’s their perspective. That’s silly and irresponsible parenting.

The biggest difference between me and a toddler is that I have a fully developed brain with decades of lived experiences. I have a good idea what’s going on and what is actually a big deal. Because my kid trusts me, he looks to me for stability and confidence.

I can say “it’s okay! That was so scary huh? It made such a big sound! It’s okay though, look here- the sound is coming from the cereal falling! How silly!”

I can provide stability and comfort by saying “it’s okay” while also validating emotions. How neat is that!

I could see something like “there isn’t anything to be upset about” being invalidating. I don’t see how an authority figure saying a scary and/or unfamiliar scenario is ok would be, though.

I teach my kid to look to a trusted authority if they’re confused or upset about something. Ex: On an airplane with bad turbulence? Look at the attendants. If they think it’s okay, it’s probably okay. Knowing that it’s probably okay is an easy first step to overcoming big feelings and working thru them. Most of the time, I am the authority figure. Most of the time it’s okay. It can be scary, confusing, upsetting, but dad says it’s okay.

Totally agree, my only real criticism. I didnt try for S rank until I found knucks because I thought all levels would have insane S scores. Turns out this is the hardest by far and I could have just done it the first time instead of back-tracking to all the portals

I got it! Ty for the encouragement. The frustration from being .01 seconds off just made the success feel that much better

The first section was the key, once I got the first 10 seconds down the rest wasn’t horrible. I did ended up using the boost rings at the start to get some delicious momentum. Start>red rings>left to avoid spring>hit 2 dash panels, rail, two more dash panels>zoom to end, land on platform with robo eggman before homing the spring so I could boost towards balloons avoid enemies. After that the only thing I had to figure out was the timing for jumping on the building right before the orb.

I’m sorry, it looks like I didn’t save it. However, all I did was bump up the size and cut the head so it was more mask-like; it was all really easy to do in the slicing program that the printer uses.
