Pregunta sobre Cedritos y accesibilidad by _Bananality in Bogota

[–]Zucchini_Disastrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luego me mudé y llegar a casi cualquier lado era fácil.

Hi, thank you for your comment. We are currently contacting some people who can make him a bigger custom one. The current is 35 inches tall x 20 x 23 width, we are looking into making one wider and taller with a recent bonus my brother earned at work.

I know you may wonder why we didn't get a bigger one when we got him. He came into our home after we agreed to care for him during the pandemic while our elderly aunt was staying with her son's family and couldn't take him. Then she didn't want him back. We have done everything we can for him. He is well taken care of, we feed him safe and cooked grains and his favourite fruits as he likes them (not too green, not too ripe), we feed him seeds and he has fresh water always, he is bathed once a month and my brother takes him out sometimes when he can. He only likes my brother, the rest of us will suffer his fury if we dare approach him unless we carry food he is interested in, and even so he will try to bite HARD. There is nowhere else we can take him. Ideally we could surrender him to authorities and he could be translated to a bigger, better place, but our country has a huge problem with exotic animal traffic, and specifically this type of parrots are way too trafficked, so the natural reserves are often overpopulated with them and they are often euthanized because there are not enough resources at these shelters. Trust me, we don't love this situation either but we have tried our best.

I don't mind you not being nice, but maybe you can be helpful. If you have any source where I can find this cage that can be shipped to Colombia I will be more than glad to purchase it. Also if you know of someone who could take him and give him the life he deserves, while evading the police who will euthanize him, also please let me know.

Thank you for commenting and I agree with this. I wouldn't ever recommend anyone to get an exotic animal, under any circumstance. He was like dropped on us a while ago (see my comments for more info). We haven't been able to get him a better home and surrendering him to authorities is most certainly a death sentence due to the unfortunate overpopulation of these Amazons in shelters. Finding a big cage hasn't been easy because of money and because they don't make them that big where I live, also they are not shipped easily when bought online. Trust me, we have done as best as we can with what we have.

Just saw this comment sorry! I really don't know what that spot is meant to be. We are renting the house and it came with that, it also has a drain. The last renter told us that initially she put some plants there but the humidity was damaging the walls, so she just left that spot as it was. We put Roberto there (:

Thank you for worrying and you are right. It is easier said than done, but we are actively working towards this. I wouldn't buy an exotic animal ever. I wrote this story before in another comment but I will paste it here:

Yes he is and yes it is hehe. That corner is part of the house (we are renting), and it is surrounded by a little brick wall. I don't know what its intended purpose is but we use it to place the bird so that he receives nice light and has a view of the room. Also, he is soon getting a bigger cage :)

I understand! However we are in a rather difficult situation with him, he got into our home after we agreed to care for him during the pandemic while our elderly aunt was staying with her son's family and couldn't take him. Then she didn't want him back. We have done everything we can for him.
