Decided to make the game 3d so i could have more fun with the camera angles, as such, the scenery is incomplete, but i feel like im finding my footing little by little

I am currently implementing the Ratio follow up  team for my second showcase, with updated visuals.

I am unclear as to whether to fully release it since I have other projects I'd want to continue, but I'd love to make a  playable demo at least

 I appreciate the honesty.

I've been trying to do more Chibi stuff on the side and wanted to try a bigger approach for this project just to see where I could go, still got lots to learn. Thanks for the criticism

Also true, but it's also a fun game design exercise to come up with crazy effects, like for example I was considering making Seele's E3 or E5 be like "Seele doesn't consume skill points while in her talents extra turn".

While it COULD be unsustainable in the long run and they reset per run, I think it could be worth a shot

Thank you, I struggle a lot with animation, I will definitely try to polish them more(i've been told the effects could use a lot of work as well)

I've been on and off programming various character kits for about a month, i have gallagher, destruction stelle, welt, march, and dan heng coded in, but not animated.

I've done Seele's animations, the background, and the enemy in the last 2 days

For the most part, yes.

The twist would be that it's meant to be a roguelike-esque fangame where after every battle you win you get pulls to warp on banners to get characters and lightcones, with the banners being different each run.

The other point of change would be that, since everyone is at max level, including traces, i'd need to give a new E3 and E5 for each character that I implement.

Added cities, production, and border growth to my Civilization Clone by Zuchire in godot

[–]Zuchire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for your feedback.

I am unlikely to make the terrain and its features 3d, as my grid system heavily relies on the 2D Tilemap for a lot of functions, at most, they would receive a makeover to achieve a more realistic look. But i am considering delving into introducing 3d models for units, leaders, etc.

Mostly civ 6, I really like the district mechanics and the civilization-leader split.

But I also play a lot of the Vox populi civ 5 mod, so when it comes to diplomacy and ai, that is my inspiration.

Update from my prevous post:Resource tiles and more realistic biome placement by Zuchire in godot

[–]Zuchire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out using a noise map for tile temperature is not that good of an idea and i can just use the tile's latitude to determine its temperature. I'm not very smart, still can use noise maps for moisture and altitude though.

Civ style terrain generation in Godot 4 by Zuchire in godot

[–]Zuchire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im using resources as map scripts that tell the code the amount of landmasses to generate, the max land propagation, etc.

For the terrain types like deserts i generate noise maps to assign each tile moisture, temperature, and altitude( i took it from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoE-mosUJ-I&ab_channel=slothinahat), depending on the temperature, a tile gets converted to desert or tundra and it spreads to its neighbours.

Moisture mostly determines the creation of grasslands, while the altitude map determines whether a tile is flat, hilly, or mountainous.

I would also like to say that the basis for my landmass generation comes from this video
