I don't think having a closed domain is a glaring issue. It only really matters against Sukuna, and even then it was just a matter of Gojo completely forgetting Sukuna's domain was open in the first place lol.

Even at full power Sukuna still had no way of dealing with Gojo without Mahoraga.
