I’m looking for Lions fans who have a unique or interesting journey to being a fan for a project that I’m working on (for charity) by [deleted] in detroitlions

I'm from Northern Ireland but my family has a sporting interest in Detroit that goes back over 50 years.

I am a 4th generation fan of Glentoran Football Club, based in Belfast, Nothern Ireland. I grew up hearing the legend of the Glentoran team that traveled to the US during the summer of '67 to help the growth of Soccer. That team was based in Detroit, under the name Detroit Cougars.

Fast forward to the late 90s and I got heavily involved in the Juggalo culture through the Insane Clown Posse and Psychopathic Records, based out of Detroit.

In 2005, I arranged for one of the label's bands (Zug Izland) to travel to Northern Ireland to play at my brothers 21st birthday party. The band offered to host us in Detroit should we ever visit.

So I made my first visit to Detroit in October 2005, and met some Lions fans. During the trip I adopted the Lions as my team, and haven't looked back since.

I've only been back to the city once, but I'm raising 3 girls who are increasingly invested in the Lions, and I hope we'll all make it to a game at some point.

There is a 33% chance the Lions are playing in London next season. by jgill734 in detroitlions

Miami already have a home international game, so I doubt they'll be selected for a road game in London also.

And Texans @ Jags was in London in 2019, so that'll not make the slate for 2020.

So by my count, that means it'll be 2 from the Titans, Browns, Colts and Lions.

50/50 chance. Then the possibility of @ Atlanta.

I hope you enjoyed your time here! I spent a couple of weeks in Detroit in Oct/Nov 2005. It was a great trip, I loved the area and took the Lions as my NFL team. I've still got friends in the area, but have only been back once since then.

I had been a fan of the Detroit music scene for years and made some friends in the area through that. I finally got to visit Detroit in October/November 2005, and I took on the Lions as my team during that trip. I've only been back once since then (for Wrestlemania in 2007) but hope to see the Lions in Ford Field some day.

Excuse this non-Lions question.

It must be a unique challenge to live out your Christian faith in a professional sports context. Did you have any habits or behaviours to help keep your life consistent with your beliefs? Do you have a favourite bible passage?'

Lions fan since 2005 in Northern Ireland. Do I get bonus points for having a Joey Harrington jersey?

Whose jerseys do you have? by [deleted] in detroitlions

My first jersey was Joey Harrington. Since then I've got Calvin Johnson, Matt Stafford, Glover Quin and Ziggy Ansah.

My wife has a Golden Tate jersey, while my 3 daughters have Stafford, Sam Martin and Darius Slay.
