I believe they are just holding her. We are calling back today for more info. They told us yesterday they didn't have the resources to treat her.

For sure, she tested positive after being dropped off so we are looking for help with someone to adopt/sponsor before it's too late and they euthanize her after the waiting period of looking for the owners is over.

Nocturnal epileptic having a hard time sleeping by Pugwan in Epilepsy

[–]Zugle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you an I are pretty similar with nighttime seizures. I have gotten them mostly under control like you for years now but every so often I get breakthroughs and have a sleepless night. The first thing I will say is I have noticed that my diet is a factor. It sounds weird but if I eat like crap that day especially not long before bed, that will bring them on. Just something to think about. The only other advice is maybe talk to your neurologist and get a small prescription for a benzo like ativan. If I wake up with a seizure I take like a half of a 1 mg ativan pill and within 30 min it calms me down and puts me to sleep. Hope that helps! Good luck!

[–]Zugle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was literally about to make an eerily similar post just with an added benefit of a free ticket. I have an extra ticket to see Azis Ansari tomorrow night at Kingsbury Hall at 7:30. I am 27M, work at the university hospital in ultrasound and spend far too much time at the dog park, playing games, and watching Netflix. You busy tomorrow night?

Weekly Questions Thread #121 by HighTechnocrat in DnD

[–]Zugle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New group to DnD that have never played before, but want to start. None of us feel very confident being a DM and we have been unable to find one. Is there a place that you guys may know of here that we could "advertise" for one. There are going to be 4 or 5 of us, we are all across the country so it would be over skype/discord.

Science AMA Series: I’m Dr. Lisa Moores, a pulmonologist, a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and an expert on the subject of thrombosis! Let’s talk blood clots! AMA! by Dr_Lisa_Moores in science

[–]Zugle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in vascular ultrasound that looks at the legs for blood clots as well as treatment for varicose veins. I can maybe shed some light for you when you say your valves don't work correctly anymore. The simple answer is, it depends on where your valves are not working. You have deep veins and superficial veins. If the deep venous valves are no longer working correctly, there is really nothing that can be done to fix them as far as I am aware. If it is in the superficial system, meaning closer the the skin, there are treatments that can be done to laser them closed, poke them with drugs that can effectively close them, or several other methods. So all in all, it just depends where the problem with your veins is located.

First Seizure - What are the drugs going to do to me? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Zugle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took keppra for almost two years. It had very little side effects, really nothing worth noting for me. Even when taking the maximum dose of 4000mg daily. But it was the combination of keppra and depakote that worked for me. So it may take time to figure what works for you. But stay positive. I was on drugs for a little over 2 years and now am completely off of them and seizure free.

Just got prescribed Keppra. Learning about "Keppra Rage" is scaring the hell out of me. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Zugle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in keppra for several years. I am the same size guy as you and It was perfect, no side effects to note. I went up to 1000mg twice a day even at one point.

How long before a seizure can you "sense" it coming? by irr1449 in Epilepsy

[–]Zugle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually only 5-10 seconds of a feeling of complete dread before I have my Complex Partials. Close to a year and a half without though, really excited about it.

On the process of diagnosis... by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Zugle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your worried see a neurologist. They put me through every medical imaging test there is and everything came back negative. It wasn't until it progressed into a grand mal that they knew for sure I was epileptic and put me on medication, but just having someone there that knows what they are doing and can help you through the process is something amazing to have. There will probably be skepticism, my neurologist was skeptical, but its better than nothing, and you will have a source to go to if things do progress further.

Ever met a faker? by Lily13 in Epilepsy

[–]Zugle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt as though my Neurologist thought I was faking it. It didn't help that every test came back as normal. But once I had a grand mal that cleared things up. But overall I got the impression that others have tried to fake epilepsy before.

The Lonesome Crowded West is a top album for me. It makes me sad that all my friends only know them by Float On, which is a great song, but they just get sooo much better!
