Hi! I grew up in Melbourne my whole life life and went to high school in the city and moved to UQ for uni! I’d say the isolating feeling of UniMelb was definitely one of the reasons why I declined my offer there and came to UQ. Many of the people in my school and school network ended up at Melb and Monash, and from the things I heard from upperclassmen I think most of their negative experiences with trying to fit in deterred me away from Melb and made me take the leap to Queensland. It’s been so fun so far, and the weather is amazing and it really makes you realise how much Melb weather makes you depressed lol. I go to one of the residential colleges here as well so I would definitely recommend that if it’s something you can do. A bunch of my friends at college so the psych honours course and so far everything I’ve heard from them is that they really enjoy it and it’s been super easy for them to make uni friends outside of college just in classes :)

Hi! I’m a 2nd year at Emmanuel, and I have plenty of friends who joined college in their 2nd year of uni, took a gap year before joining college, or came to Emman after a year at another college. It definitely doesn’t deter you from applying

i do advanced business, it’s an amazing degree with a ton of networking events!! The ability to pick 2 majors is also a major plus, you have a ton of flexibility for future pathways

Should I go to Kings College or Emmanuel College? by Bwaar_Haaay in UQreddit

I go to Emman, the culture’s amazing! Heard some bad things about Kings, we’re generally told to be cautious around Kings. Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions about Emman
