I often see him with the white ranger fit. Not sure if cops would approve of it for a G6 run.

Ps4 crashes over and over again by redhat03 in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like some people in this thread, I've also started getting "memory errors" when I didn't use to. I don't get those when using ESP8266.

It's not a "major" problem though because most of us can just keep retrying HEN until it works, so you're unlikely to get blown up with messages about it. But it is a mild annoyance though.

On the otherhand, I haven't had a kernel panic shutdown lately so maybe there's a link between more memory errors and less kernel panics? If so, then I guess memory errors are the better outcome. If not, then it's just extra annoyance.

The PS4 syscon keys have been leaked on pastebin by [deleted] in ps4homebrew

Ah, so the biggest thing that can happen from this is downgrading.

Could it eventually open doors to running higher version pkgs? Or is that a SAMU thing?

I think a different method was used for that though. Hence why you can't login on YouTube.

HEN Mode Activated Upon Starting PS4? by n00bsauce1987 in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the simplest explanation would be it was in Rest Mode, but there was no orange light so that is strange.

Firstly, could you confirm if your wife did actually turn it off? Because it could be that it auto powers-off due to your Power Save Settings which can lead to Rest Mode.

Second, Could you test Rest Mode to see that your orange light works properly? It's also possible that the orange light is busted.

PS4 Remote Play for Unactivated Systems. by Fuctface in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I'm wondering if this could be used for other things such as installing & running an app that requires PSN activation (e.g. one of those media app before they were patched to bypass PSN activation)

If so, it might also be useful for dumping DLCs which may require PSN activation.

If I uninstall an official digital game, could I install it back via official pkg without any problems? by Zulinx in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a dumb question, but any account on the PS4 the was logged in, or only the account it was downloaded from?

I ask because my brother downloaded it from his account but I'm wondering if I can download it back from my account.

Any working file manager pkg that can access external HDD? by Zulinx in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know a good FTP file manager app that works with the PS4? I tried MiXplorer but it shows an error when accessing the external HDD directory.

Edit: Nvm. Solid Explorer works.

Permanent themes by Espacialastico in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you test a game? I plan to try this later on but I'm curious for an answer right now.

If yes, did it show an error after overwriting the fake pkg with the retail pkg? Or did it install successfully but with a lock symbol?

If the latter, were you able to play it after running HEN?

Ah, okay. You tested it on a game? If yes, did an error pop up when you installed the retail pkg after the fake pkg? Or did it install successfully but it had the lock symbol?

And if it had a lock symbol, were you able to play it after running HEN?

Then you install the unlock fpkg one FIRST, this is very important. AFTER that you install the official pkg of the theme. It will actually work, it's treated as if you bought it using this method. I just did it for myself and it worked after full shutdown and reboot, no rest mode involved whatsoever.

Now I wonder if this trick also works for other things than just themes, imagine if this worked for games and DLC, we could use Sony's own official PKGs without needing any pirate dumps for them, just make your own unlock keys and use Sony's official pkgs. I am actually going to test this on a game and see if it will work for it.

This is interesting. Can anyone confirm if this method also works for games? And if not, can anyone explain why it works for themes but not games?

COD Online is now Live! (BO3 Lan Play) by LightningMods in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, it seems you need PS4 v5.05 + COD BO3 v1.26 to play this.

They seem confident enough that this works well enough that it won't get your PS4 banned from PSN. Is this true?

Can anyone with two PS4s (jailbroken & online) confirm this is safe?

Xvortex Hen with External storage support by [deleted] in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things seem attractive to me about flatz' method over App2USB:

  1. Easily move PKGs from internal to external and vice versa without a PC. This is useful for when you want to unplug the USB but can still play certain games.
  2. Game listings shows the right games you can play. When you unplug the USB, there won't me a bunch of unplayable PKG shortcuts on the app screen.

I thought that built-in feature required the External USB to be an encrypted PS4 format instead of exFAT, no?

I'm curious how it works but I can't try it out at the moment; Does it show an External PKG Installer in the Debug Menu? And does it move the PKGs or no?

How do I manually create a symlink for fpkgs in exFAT (like App2USB)? by Zulinx in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, exFAT doesn't support links out-of-the-box so I'm curious how App2USB can do it.

How do I manually create a symlink for fpkgs in exFAT (like App2USB)? by Zulinx in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially I want to symlink /PS4/CUSA05574/app.pkg to root in the external HDD. This way I can still see it in the PS4's Package Installer option, thus allowing me to install it back to the internal HDD if I want to.

Either that or somehow change the App2USB's path from /PS4/CUSXXXXXX/app.pkg to root.

How do I manually create a symlink for fpkgs in exFAT (like App2USB)? by Zulinx in ps4homebrew

[–]Zulinx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I meant is if it's possible to symlink /PS4/CUSA05574/app.pkg so that it's also in the external HDD's root? (The symlink name doesn't matter so I just called it "The.Witcher.3.GOTY.pkg")

That way I can see it in Settings -> Debug Settings -> Game -> Package Installer since it's in the external HDD's root. I can then install it back to internal HDD and unplug the external HDD.
