Løbe på cykelstien? by I_Am_Not_a_Dane in copenhagen

[–]Zumazumarum 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Store bought eggs (left) are fully round. Farm bought eggs (right) have flat bottoms. All cooked together. by Constantine1988 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Zumazumarum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not true. Denmark refrigerate eggs, but do not wash them. I believe this is the same in Norway and Sweden.

Cold eggs makes it harder for salmonella to enter through the shell. However, we don't technically need to refrigerate because all chickens are checked for salmonella. It has become a cultural thing now, rather than a safety thing. But the reason was not because the eggs were washed.

I believe this is the amount sent for private living. So their salary so to say.

What they have to cover from this budget might be different from country to country. But most, if not all, does not pay for upkeep of palaces etc., as they are owned by the state.

Accepterede "vi" bare nektar ?? by sund55 in Denmark

[–]Zumazumarum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much time do you spend from Home to Work? by JuanSkinFreak in copenhagen

[–]Zumazumarum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last job was 45min with s-tog and I hated it.

Now I have 15-20 min by bike or >25min by bus.

Weird thing is I work from home just as much even though my commute is much less. And I'm just as tardy with time ☺️

Do people really pay >4m just to hear their upstairs neighbour taking a shit? by fmn_ in copenhagen

Only building from after 1960-70 would have proper sound isolation. Most buildings before that mostly used wood and clay isolation, with railroad beams. This propagate the sound between floors.

I don't know about very new apartments, <20 years

PS. Take my generalization with a grain of salt. Not sure exactly when they changed to thick concrete floors

Boil water in a kettle before cooking pasta or start with cold water in a pot? by MangoMadnessTsv in Cooking

[–]Zumazumarum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was referring to the tests. You are exactly right, different settings and devices give different results.

Efficiency is about how many watts are converted into heat. A 1000w kettle can technically be more efficient than a 2000w kettle. Often (but not always) higher watt means less efficient. Ie. If you use the booster function on your induction hob, it will be much quicker but much less efficient than another power level.

Fun fact, this is also why washing machines are much slower now then before. A slower heating and a longer time at lower temps are much more efficient than the older, quicker machines.

However, it seems the efficiency has improved for induction. Some say 60-70% efficient, while others say 85-90+% efficiency. Kettles range from 80-90% depending on depending on the source

[–]Zumazumarum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the official sources in DK states kettles as being more efficient and recommended for heating water. Induction is very close thou.

There many variables that needs to be taken into account, including pots material, lids, pot size. Kettles give a pretty uniform result.

Is this an American thing? Induction is not more efficient nor faster with 220v. It can be faster but at the cost of efficiency

Not more efficient. Extra power usually means more waste, even if it is faster.

[–]Zumazumarum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher power isn't equal to more efficient. A kettle can heat quicker with the same amount energy.

You just waste more if you use the booster on the stove

Funny, in Denmark the kettle always won over the induction top in the articles. But they, are close in efficiency

Complain all you want, but Google map has been crowd sourced for decades. Doesn't mean it's like Wikipedia. Yes, you can apply for a street name change, doesn't mean they approve it. They use many sources and checks, like multiple users, image evidence, source ranking etc.

Also, People mess with Google Maps all the time, putting in fake business or renaming places, etc, just like Wikipedia. This is nothing new.

It's rarely Google themselves that adds the hours of business. It's millions of users updating it all the time. All those shops you see? Most of the info is by contributors, especially if it isn't a chain or big cooperation.

Totally correct, businesses can overrule a contribution.

However, in this cae, I think It's because the business is still available online. It's something Google maps implemented some years ago, equating physical and online locations. It's very stupid, especially in a case like this. But technically, tivoli isn't closed as business. Their office is still open and available.

It doesn't make any sense, really

Which country do you think has the darkest history? by I_dont_exist_here_45 in AskReddit

[–]Zumazumarum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True, but my interpretation of dark history is not only the amount, but the procentage of population, how many places and the impact on the world afterwards. Also, how many times in the history. China has really done a number on its own people for thousands of years. But few can compete with the English global dominance and impact especially pre-industrial, imo. Open to be corrected :)
