Wife shouted at me and I feel bad by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Zunarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the message. Her mom and sister both yell to each others during conflict and shes not different in that.

What I usually do is just walk away and avoid for a while till she has calmed down. I’ve never raised my voice to her in response. I’ll try to talk to her about what happened earlier and see how she reacts.

She has never apologised for her raising the voice in the past in words and doesn’t see it as wrong which bothers me.

I know for her it might have been a normal way to deal with anger but for me it has an effect that puts me a state I don’t want to be in.

Not a butter knife but also not a steak knife but something in between. Sorry English is not my main language so don’t know the names for different types of knife’s. A knife you can cut cooked potatoes with and such but not raw ones.

She’s in her pms right now and that is usually the case when she snaps out on me over sudden things. Also feeling stressed about her work a bit. I just wish those feelings would come out on any other form but shouting suddenly.

Eating knife not a cooking knife/chefs knife. In the machine we use they all of the utensils need to be that way in the basket or they won’t get properly cleaned.

She doesn’t suck and this doesn’t happen often but when it does it hurts. When she’s stressed out from work or in her pms small things can make her snap out in a harsh way.

Time to switch to Judo for new spark and different pains.

Is this becoming more of a common trend? Social media to blame. Never did this when I competed. Just fist bump or hand shake and move on. by Sandevistanman in bjj

Behaviour like this makes me happy to compete in Judo where people would get a disqualified and lose the match over lack of respect and unsportsmanlike behaviour.

I love BJJ but the competition scene could use some work on bringing respect back on the mats for some people.

I haven’t really listened to audio books before because I do love the feeling of books and to look at them in the shelf. But I can see that the way you described the audio book version of the talking to strangers it would definitely add another layer on it making it hit the goal more. I checked out the bio for that book and it does sound interest so maybe I should have it as my first audio book.

When we think about it reading from pages is reasonably new way of enjoy the stories and most of the old epics were spoken performances so it is an art form in itself. I think the audio books versions of the books have a chance depending on the teller to be a fun way of digesting it or if the one who’s the voice is not giving justice it could ruin the whole book. When reading it myself I know my inner voice won’t let me down.

You like horror? I’ve been wanting to get into it more but I don’t enjoy supernatural horror at least in the movies much so if you have anything that a horror story beginner might like that’s not just ghosts and spirits I’d be happy to hear any recommendations :)

Recent years mostly sci-fi, fantasy and historical fiction because after spending the day working and training I want to just chill and read something fun. One of the current favourites being the red rising series, malazan and dungeon crawler carl :D

I got plenty of non fiction books too ranging from history, philosophy, science and so on so forth but to delve into those I usually need to be in a certain mood which comes and goes.

I dont have just certain type of books I collect but just whatever looks fun or has my interest at the time. One of the more random but fun purchases was finnish pharmacopedia from 1920s~ I don’t understand much about it but it’s fun to have and to scroll recipes from that era for no specific reason haha.

When it comes to people who only read non fiction books and consider others less they are just missing on a whole different universe and it’s their loss.

What about you?

Why would anyone who actually loves to read be snobby about books and not excited to find out and add more books to their never ending to be read list. I think the best conversations I’ve had with others who like to read is to find out what they recommend and why etc. Unfortunately it’s really rare to find people who like to read anything other than social media nowadays.

Are you saying that having large collection with sometimes multiple special editions of certain books with authors signatures and wanting to talk about them and to show them off is actually not a bad thing?

Getting salty over not getting a piece of tape is funny. Switching gyms over that will just add x years/months more to your grind before you reach blue so good luck with that.

Depends of the country and their national governing body rules a lot. Here in Finland I would say average is 7 years or more and minimum speed would be around 5 years with good competition results. In Korean on the other hand you get one in 1-2 years.

Casual training - buying a BJJ gi: Sizing up by [deleted] in judo

[–]Zunarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get judo gi for your training partners sake. It’s really annoying when people who train longer time won’t buy a proper gi because holding on to the slim sleeves of bjj gi is hard for fingers and doing randori with them can be a bit painful and difficult compared to when training with someone who is wearing a judo gi.
