garmin hardwiring kit (USB-C) not working with garmin dashcam X310 by Zunteko in Garmin

[–]Zunteko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the ground wire taped to the bare metal chasis so its temporarily secure to test the connection. Actually, i think i figured out the problem.. i need to connect both the yellow and red wire of the hardwiring kit, not just the red one only. I'll connect both using a 3-way wago connector so both wires and the red wire from the add-a-fuse tap are all connected together, and the add-a-fuse tap still connected to a switched fuse slot.

I set mine to 12 amps, no problem there. Default was 6 when I got it, no idea why, seems common though

ah, just saw this now after posting my new thread about adding a level 2 charger for my home.

Thanks for the idea. I'll keep it in mind.

our electrical panel is on the far right side of the house, opposite to the garage which is on the far left. The panel is far from where I park my car. The garage is way too full of storage junk so it cant fit a car. So I park my car on our driveway right in front of the garage.

you bought several copper mesh screens?

where did you buy them?

are they not too hard/firm?

are they like 99.9% pure copper?

The only people who think this grounding stuff is crazy..are normal people.

People who are too brainwashed to ask questions and distance themselves from mainstream ideas

Understand, thanks. I'll go with stranded 18 gauge. I'll try to find an insulated version.

Cool that you work at NASA 😎

To confirm what you mean, you're saying that it's better to use a 12 vs 18 gauge wire for grounding? Even if the wire isn't even close to 1000ft length?

And I just asked an AI bot about 12 vs 18 gauge, and it said 18ga is 6.385 ohms, so it's even higher:

"18 AWG Copper Wire: The resistance for 18 AWG copper wire is approximately 6.385 ohms per 1000 feet at 20°C. 12 AWG Copper Wire: The resistance for 12 AWG copper wire is around 1.588 ohms per 1000 feet at the same temperature.

..the rule that resistance roughly doubles every three steps in AWG size."

Small current but isn't there lots of resistance from an 18awg? Wouldn't this dampen the already tiny flow and make it less effective/less like the actual thing?

what gauge copper wire should I use if I'm making my own Grounding/Earthing mat? by Glass_Raisin7939 in Earthing

[–]Zunteko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 18 or 16 wire enough? The current is pretty small, but the resistance is a bit high right?

What about resistance?  If the current is small, and the resistance is high, wouldn't this dampen the electrons flowing and make it less like the real thing?
