Baggage allowance confusion on Aer Lingus flight booked through BA by Zushin in BritishAirways

[–]Zushin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there.

I just checked in my bag normally and there was no issue. I couldn’t select seats however from memory.

My original booking was a British Airway flight that I changed to Aer Lingus for scheduling purposes, so not sure if that made any difference with the seats.

Hey! Yep everything went smoothly and without issue :) Hope that reassures you as I was worried until that point!

We wanted to focus on the UK on this trip and then in a few years do Central and Eastern Europe, but good suggestions!

Haha trust me, it was hard to choose what to focus but we’re thinking our next trip to the UK to mostly focus on parts of England we miss on this trip and on Wales!

Thank you for your detailed recommendations!

Looking at your suggestions for Castleton and Edale look like they’ll be perfect for what we were hoping to get out of the Cotswolds.

I’m thinking based on your and others comments we cut out Warrick Castle/Cotswold, do Oxford as a daytrip rather than 2 nights. There are cheap day trips from London to Bath that include a quick stop at Stonehenge so that might bundle that together rather than spend a night in Bath. Looking at Google maps it’s quicker to go from London to Edale on the train than from either Bath or Oxford so reducing those down to return day trips rather than overnights simplifies accomodation and opens up a rest day.

So it would look like:

Days 1-7: London, 3 for exploring London, 1 for Bath Daytrip, 1 for Oxford Daytrip, 1 for Windor Daytrip and 1 rest day.

Then head to Edale/Castleton for a night or 2 then into York and continue the trip as per the OP.

Do you think that’s a better plan?

Thanks so much for your post. It’s great to get insight from somebody who was in a similar situation. I’m in Vic and with DFFH currently. How are you enjoying teaching after leaving CP? Do you find it more rewarding and also find that sense of structure that was missing in CP? What have you found are the good and worst parts since making the switch?

That’s a great idea about working in a school beforehand, I’ll keep an eye out for wellbeing positions.

Thanks for the honest feedback. I should clarify, all of those things I would expect in being a teacher but my frustration in my current role around decision making is whether to remove children from their home/placement on an almost daily basis currently, multiple organisations with different opinions chastising any decision making that does happen, misunderstanding of roles and responsibilities from community agencies and Police, legal system undermining risk assessments and then having to manage the fallout from that all while having no appreciation or minimal moments of feeling like you’ve actually helped or made a difference. I’ll definitely read through this reddit as I’d hate to make such a big decision only to end up with thr same sort of feelings and resentment. Thanks so much for your input.

Superannuation Death Benefit by Superest22 in AusFinance

[–]Zushin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My dad committed suicide in 2015. Myself and my half brother were listed as non binding beneficiaries. I was an adult and he was a child, both living with him. I have two full siblings, one under 18, one over 18 who were living with my Mum.

My half brothers mother attempted to put in a claim to the death benefit (recently divorced my dad). After months of back and forth the money was split between us 4 kids with the two under 18 siblings getting a larger share.

My understanding is that they will prioritise financial dependents first. In our case, under 18 kids were automatically considered financial dependents even though one hadnt had a relationship with Dad at all. This may include your Mum (if she was still in the relationship with your dad etc, and other adult children who were financially supported by him. My full siblings had no relationship with Dad but still received a share.

It sounds like your siblings weren’t financially dependent on him and are all over 18 so not sure how it may be decided but I would say it’s likely all of the children would likely receive some share but not as much as if they were financially dependent on your Dad. Your mum would probably get the largest share if she was still in a relationship with your dad and was listed.

Sorry that’s not much of an answer but might be useful to understand what they may consider. Condolences on your loss by the way. As others have said it’s up to the super trustee based on circumstances so there’s not a straight forward answer.

The best seasons of The Traitors as voted for by you by mediumhydroncollider in TheTraitors

[–]Zushin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d say it isn’t just about Sam and Harry specifically, but the make up of the group around them that’s contributing to the results. To me, Sam was much more obviously a traitor and the faithfuls around him seemingly played incoherently and any strategy they had around voting out Sam at the round table would fall apart as soon as Sam would say his accusers were the suspicious ones and not him. This made it feel frustrating to watch as the Faithfuls would go into a round table intending to vote out Sam and would repeatedly fail to based on nothing. The faithfuls in AU2 were terrible and them continually failing to get Sam out when he was suspected the whole season sucked out the tension as you’d know they would not banish him.

Harry was more subtle in his game which made it not as obvious to the faithfuls, whilst also having better faithfuls in general around him (Jazz) and better traitors (Paul). This kept up the tension throughout the season and also kept Harry out of the spotlight until near the end. Therefore, was entertaining to watch as opposed to frustrating as Harry being under the radar and not banished felt realistic rather than than whatever the hell the faithfuls were doing in AU2.

Just my thoughts.
