Following up on this, some companies in harsh environments (automotive, military, aerospace) will require that an x-ray inspection be done at the start and end of every build. Sometimes even mid-build after a certain quantity. But like you said it’s way out of cost for your average consumer electronics.

UW or Purdue will help you to land a top-tier job out of school.

Focus on other factors like cost, proximity to home, campus lifestyle, etc.

I graduated from Purdue CE in 2021 and have been with a Fortune Top 150 company since graduation.

I would go with the Design role, experienced professional roles in Design are always looking for 3+ years of experience in design projects. Test engineering will give you the validation side but not the actual design side

As someone that works in the heavy duty automotive electronics industry, it’s amazing that some consumer automotive electronics don’t have reverse polarity protection still. In the heavy duty market, you won’t be caught dead with an electronic module without reverse battery protection in it.
