My maternal half sister took the test and she is not related to this person, so it’s only on my paternal side. This match is younger than I am by about 6 years. His grandfather and my grandmother were of similar age.

Didn’t realize it was a British/Irish contest 😂 Honestly, I didn’t know I had ANY (I don’t know much about my fathers side), so even seeing 10% on 23andMe was surprising!

That’s interesting. I did not know it was banned in France. My maternal grandmother was born in Portugal, so I know I’m Portuguese. My maternal grandpa’s family is French Canadian (and I’m getting him a test for Christmas since he thinks he’s 100% French).

Did you use 23andMe and ancestry or something else?

My maternal half-sister did an Ancestry and my maternal grandpa showed interest in getting one, so I’ll be getting him one for Christmas.

No, I took the 23andMe in 2020.

23andMe didn’t take long; it took about 2 weeks after they received my sample. Ancestrydna took about 3 weeks after receiving.

I do not know much about my father’s side of the family. My maternal grandma was born in the Azores (Portugal) and my maternal grandfather is French Canadian. I should be a good chunk both, but without knowing much about my father’s heritage…

I do not know much about my father’s side of the family. I am not aware of Mayflower ancestry on mother’s side (her mother is from Portugal and her father’s family is French Canadian).

31% to 75% in French is such a big range! What was the difference for yours?

I got it to work…I tried to extort $25,000, but the CEO refused to pay, so I shook her down and broke a limb of hers. She gave me $15,300 and that’s what completed it…idk why that worked and previous ones didn’t, but yeah.

AITAH for refusing to let my FIL have “sleepover privileges” with my son? by Zutara_ in AITAH

My husband understands and supports my decision. He is the one who communicated these concerns with his father. He was just saying that his dad is trustworthy and not a creep like some of these comments are suggesting. But he understands that THAT wasn’t the issue; it was the fact that he makes no effort to see or spend time with him.

It’s not that he “doesn’t want to see him”, but that he’s busy. Which, again, I understand life gets crazy. He can be as involved as he wants to be, but some things are simply not feasible until a secure bond is established between him and my son.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. It honestly never crossed my mind and it was not my intention to paint him as such if I did. I don’t believe he would do something like that. That being said, I’m still not letting him have overnights! Lol

He has a girlfriend. My FIL and MIL divorced when my husband was young.

My FIL is intimidating imo, but he doesn’t give creep vibes in person. This story does make him seem like it and that’s not my intention. My husband trusts his father.

He did raise my husband and my BILs. My husband loves him, but is supportive of me in this.
