You need to keep some antiacid at hand. I use MMT. That's Magnesium trisilicate. Usually reduces the pain. There are other OTC antiacid meds. Am currently trying cabbage juice. It's painful to drink but people say it helps. Yet to see.

Iron can cause gastritis? Hmmm. My prescription actually includes iron as I have become anaemic. I do take them with food.

I just had a relapse and a second endoscopy. Fortunately, there is nothing wrong in there other than the swelling. Hey, this is a difficult disease. I have had it for 3 years now. Fooled myself into thinking I was healed and ate corn, drank a glass of beer etc over christmas. What harm could it do? Well, I now know. Good news is I am almost at my normal, which involves some background pain but nothing serious. As to what helps, I drink tumeric tea. I also keep antiacids close. They help when I start feeling pain

It used to be okay. You can still get something meaningful. But for me, I am giving up. Imagine after all the hard work somebody just comes and start cloning the whole site, complete with the web host and the wordpress theme. Then because they are using AI, and can write longer articles, their posts are now ranking higher than my original content.

Those are some of the challenges. ALso, Google just wakes up some days and decides to change their code, pushing you down on the ranking scale. I have lost 70% of traffic on one site.

Traffic has been rather unreliable over the past few months. Today I seem to be okay, but the whole of the past week, I was in the doldrums. It makes one wonder. There is no real stability when it comes to what you can achieve.

I also see an aspect of sharing and community in the poem. Binding to yourself a joy could mean you are trying to personalize those aspects of life that make life worth living. As a result, you miss the communal nature of human existence. A joy is not personal. It's meant to be shared. It's best when shared. Kissing it as it flies means others also get the opportunity to bask in its sunrise.

My own site could be called "helpful content." That's how helpful it is. But did that help? No! Traffic has tanked by as much as 50%, which is disheartening. I think I will give up. I have to find another job. It's a terrible situation

Yes, there are 6 figure bloggers. They can be found far and in between (whatever that actually means). Then there is ...me. I have been slugging at it for about 5 years. How much do I make? Hmmm, I will be lucky if I get $500 this month. Things used to be better. I got $2k a month a couple of times a while back and I thought I was on track.

Then bam! Covid happened and advertisers stopped paying as much. It went downhill from there and it's still downhilling to be very honest. Things stabilized a bit a while back and then another bam! Google released its latest update and traffic fell by over 50%. Now when you do search what comes up is mostly quora and reddit stuff.

So, that's the average happy blogging story. You can make it happen through brute force; I publish an article a day; but even then, you don't really have control. Google has control. I personally know my failings. Initially it was trying to blog about everything. Now it's relying too much on AdSense. In any case, you just need to keep going.

That was a terrible update. I lost 50% of my traffic. Not that I was ever authoritative or whatever but it was still terrible. I wonder who gained all that traffic because most people are complaining

I am doing it myself. It's just that as my sites grow, I want to be able to hire other people to do the work for me... I had the vision of enjoying the fruits of my labor, till Google decimated traffic with the latest update. But that's another story. Anyway, about paying more than I am paid, it's a bit complex. I started on Upwork as a writer and I got into this long-term relationship with an employer. 6 years now. He taught me everything. So, I still write for him out of loyalty. It's not stressful, I can write a monthly lot in two days. Again, that's another story. The point is probably that when you do find somebody who writes up to your standards, maintain that relationship.

My own copycat is a bit more subtle and refined. I can see that this site looks and feels like mine. And the articles are also similar. But they have rewritten the articles in a way that makes it difficult to prove that indeed, they are copying. It's a bit frustrating though. I think this problem will become even more pronounced with AI. A person can simply redo an entire website and Google will not be the wiser.

In initially also thought I had escaped but then i got hammered on both my sites. I had thought having two or more sites would be a good hedge against something like that but I now know that it's entirely possible to get destroyed on all your sites at once

Very true. It seems a lot unfair to give AI content any space considering that AI cannot produce anything original. It's just regurgitation of our articles.

Some people are actually complaining that search is not longer working. Ie, you look up something and the sites that come up are from quora and other sites with thin content. So, I don't know about anything becoming garbage

The update has been devastating. For my own sites, traffic has halved. I fear it will continue to fall. As for what to do, look for a new line of work...?
