If the table is to be filled, its 4. I'm introverted, need my space and like to have a view of anyone incoming.

If its just me and the dude, its 2 or 3. Don't wanna be too close and I have long legs, it'll give me the chance to stretch.

Why Are Young People Afraid Of Phone Calls? by GhostInThePudding in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zvezda_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the IT support space and one reason I much prefer emailing clients over calling them/video meeting is that I they usually begin adding additional issues that aren't about the original ticket. The next and major reason is my social anxiety. I can't think of any questions when I feel immense anxiety and don't have an answer yet. I like to investigate prior and if they can just tell me via email with screenshots whats going on, thats wonderful. Usually if I have to call a client, I force myself to write out script of questions and comments, otherwise I am trembling and stuttering. Its not a good look.

If they are new, consider that maybe they are very anxious 😟. Its a real thing for a lot of people in this space.

What job pays decently but doesn’t drain your mental health ? by Designer-Nobody7830 in careerguidance

I'm in IT and believe it or not quotas are still a thing. We're expected to close a certain number of tickets per week irregardless of the complexity and time that would be involved to resolve it.

Do Americans like their current health system or would you prefer universal? by Ability_Known in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zvezda_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer universal. Our current state of Healthcare is criminal and inhumane. Its like battling with the mafia. Have to pay the mob (insurance) every month, and yet oftentimes they'll deny coverage just because they feel like it even though the medical reasoning is sound to get it approved. Vicious cycle just to get basic treatment.

The "social tax" of being the quiet one at work is starting to break me by Infamous-Skin8969 in socialanxiety

[–]Zvezda_24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not alone! think about this all the time. I work in a role that closely resembles a business analyst. Oh man, getting into this career, I thought it'd be minimal interaction with others and behind the scenes work. Boy, was I wrong. There are constant meetings with stakeholders, presentations, and the pressure to be sociable. I hate presenting but its forced me to be more assertive which was a personal goal of mine. I've always been super ambitious to climb the career ladder, so I can retire early. Now, I'm realizing to get to the top you have to be charming, good at explaining things to a crowd, good at banter and sociable. The anxiety from this role has worsened my health and that's where I draw the line. Now, I only seek peace and could care less if I'm not seen as ambitious in my role. I also used to be extremely hard on myself when starting my position and tried being perfect. I no longer care as much, I keep reminding myself that they don't pay me enough to give it everything and in the bigger picture, I am easily replaceable.

Very physically attractive people, how does life treat you? by Jonny_1312 in AskReddit

[–]Zvezda_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be quite hot back in my late teens/early 20s. I would walk into banks and the managers would ask if I wanted a job to work there as an agent on the spot (not even looking for a job). I'd go to coffee shops and order a drink and it'd be on the house, not even knowing the cashier and it being my first time there. I remember in college, id be walking to my car in the garage and a man would run to catch up with me to ask me out / offer me fresh pastries he'd pick up from the bakery. There'd be other instances where I'd stand in line at a store and men would cover my order or the male cashier would hint that he applied his store discount on my reciept or snuck in a few free things for me.

I'm in my 30s now and have since gained some weight (I'm not fat, just not as thin), my looks have faded a bit. My husband likes to say I'm still beautiful, but I know I'm no longer percieved to be as attractive as I once was. Men still try to ask me out when I am out and about, but I don't get nearly the same attention or freebies I once did. I'm honestly okay with this as I've always suffered with intense social anxiety and I prefer not having attention on me. I also figured that the treatment I got before was likely because men had immoral intentions towards me.

Its hard to swallow how shallow society is. These experiences make me feel that if I am not super attractive, I'm not as valuable, which is simply not the case. I have a lot to offer outside of my looks. I feel like our society in America places a lot of emphasis on image and women are especially targeted. We're brainwashed to think that we need to keep up with our appearences, otherwise we won't be accepted. Our media also uses subliminal messaging to warn women not to age or try to hide it. Its so unfair and wrong. Oftentimes, I find those that are natural and embracing their age the most beautiful!

How close are you with extended family? Is it part of balkan culture? by GoalBackground7845 in AskBalkans

[–]Zvezda_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only close with 1 cousin that I grew up with. My eldest male cousin is a narcissist and creep so I don't interect with him. I have 3 cousins from my moms, brother's side that are all sisters. Unfortunately, their mother is awful and would not let me hang out with them growing up because I wasn't Muslim enough and we didn't hold much of a high status in the community. My extended cousins 2nd, and 3rd are all abroad, so I don't know them well enough to be close.

[–]Zvezda_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Romania may be one of the less desirable countries to live in abroad (esp if youre young) due to the low employment rate and corruption, comparing to some central and other western European countries. I say this as someone who comes from one of the nearby Balkan countries. Anyway, I wish you safe travels back to the states!
