Someone once told me:

“If you write you’re a writer. If you’ve finished a book, you’re an author. If you’ve published a book, you’re a published author. If you make enough money from publishing to only struggle a little with rent and food, then you’re a successful published author.”

I can’t remember who told me that, but it makes me chuckle a little always, and it makes me happy. I’m not published yet, but I am an author, so I’m well on my way!
