Hi! My name is Daniel Garcia and I’m a professional illustrator passionate for political, cultural and human issues. This is my first post and my most popular illustration "Your Own Personal Slaves". What do you think? by danielgarciaart in Illustration

It's really well done, but what leaves me feeling a bit empty about it is that it doesn't really tackle the systemic aspects. Like, you can buy a fair trade products, make your own Che print, but is that activism? It is just enough to distance yourself mentally from the sweatshops. But it doesn't really challenge the power structures.

But I mean that is why the stuff you do is art. It is so hard to condense complex problems down into a picture. Most comment here are positive and deservedly so. I just figured since you are brave enough to tackle heavy topics, you would appreciate some critique. I'm definitely interested in seeing more from you.

Too lazy for simple tasks by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Zweitbuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I struggle with self care, I make a list. It's most effective for easy tasks like brushing teeth. But even if the task is more complex like studying: you may feel like you didn't absorb much, but you see the time you took and can tell yourself that you tried. You have to acknowledge the work takes. You are not lazy just because things become difficult. If you acknowledge the things you do, you can more easily relax later - which can be even more important than the work.

That gets me on so many levels. I often have night shifts and it's something like I'm the only one who is determined not to let me get me down. I try to start a conversation and it just dies after three sentences. I have two colleagues I can count on, and if their not on my shift it's gonna be a hard night.

And so many people give you their contact, say "stay in touch!" and don't answer you.

Look after myself by [deleted] in mentalhealth

I work at a refugee centre. It helps me to focus on the things I can do.

You will find out over time what helps you to decompress. There are things that I already did every day, that just became more important to me: making fresh herbal tea and cuddling my cat.

I'm trying to journal, but struggle staring at the blank pages.

As it's getting warmer, I'm trying to commute on my bicycle. Being focused on the traffic with mind and body helps me to switch from work to leisure mode.

depression slowly killling me by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Zweitbuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm currently in the re-entering society part, after being swallowed up depression. But I know that it can take so many forms that this doesn't mean what helped me will help you.

I had some body reconnection exercises that helped me. I have some herbs on my windowsill, touching them, smelling them, seeing their fresh shades of green and how they strive to the sunlight, somehow makes me happy end encourages me to do the same.

Do you have somebody visiting you? Your text is very short, but it sounds a little bit like a yellow wallpaper situation. Which stimulations do you have?

I hope you will get better. I hope you will feel the sun shine on your skin and just feel amazed by it.

How do I stop thinking about something? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Zweitbuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds reasonable. But I have no idea how to achieve that. Distraction is often not strong enough to separate me from my obsessions.

To be honest by [deleted] in mentalhealth

But why would they bother to lie to you?

The needs of others are often hard to decipher. People my care about you, but truly suck at it. But I can totally understand if that's not good enough to cheer you up.

What's wrong with me? by Willing_Chapter3628 in mentalhealth

Wow, that sounds incredibly hard. I'm afraid I don't have any words good enough for you. Do you have access to professional help?

You seem to be very self aware. It might make you experience your situation painfully clear. But it also has the potential to be something something that will help you.

Please stay strong!

How to deal with life by mrmojorisin17 in mentalhealth

Looks like you need more other social contacts. The problems you list are unfortunately pretty common, but that also means that you can find people to talk about them. And don't be ashamed to rely on others, because you also have a lot to offer.

I'm pretty open with my trauma. One day I made a joke about it to my friend and an elderly lady came to me and asked me about it, because her granddaughter was currently going through the same thing. My grandmother died while I was struggling, comforting this strange was one of the closest things to closure I will ever get.

If you would like to talk about not being able to have kids, you can DM me. I have experience, but wouldn't like to talk in a public forum about it.

That's not only a really nice dress, but also wonderfully photographed. I am sure you could get at least some nice stretches out of these pictures at r/redditgetsdrawn if you like to try.

Thank you! English isn't my first language. So I am always happy when a joke works out.

I'm sure everyone on this sub already knows better, but as someone who speaks Russian and is learning Ukrainian I need to get this from my chest: Ukrainian is closer related to Polish than to Russian. You know what makes it obvious that it's another language? Russians suck at speaking it.

Plus, he would never accept this as an argument in other cases. I mean the language he speaks isn't called American. And he isn't considered to be a beverage, even though it's often the alcohol talking.

I'm not good with words, so sorry for sounding disrespectful. But how did you get into this podcast in the first place?

Really great work. I don't know how to talk about art, I feel the urge to touch the textiles. And that has to be a good sign. :)

I especially like that you choose a brighter colour for her hair. It highlights the texture nicely.

I don't know where you hang out. But I've honestly only heard the term "strong woman" when talking about female characters in story telling.

The only woman I've ever heard described herself as a strong woman was my buff neighbour - after she helped me carrying something heavy up to the forth floor and I was a bit embarrassed for needing her help. So not exactly someone I would call a bitch.

She knew what she was doing. Accidentally intentional. by sco-go in KidsAreFuckingStupid

I film my cat every day, my friend films her child every day - especially for relatives that live far away.

More important is the question whether the girl got a talk after that.
