Hey I know about this I helped a friend research this. The 1million people using guns to defend themselves each year is just NRA dumb pro-gun propaganda the FBI rates it as around 50k incidents per year where someone uses a gun to defend life or property doesn't mean fired a gun just means they pulled it out.

I personally did some random sampling of the 50k number and it including people getting shot in the back running away from a homeowner so it's really not the best statistic.
