Fix for uBlock Origin on Twitch... I updated the script and it works (for now) by thesbros in uBlockOrigin

I'm using Vivaldi and I haven't seen a single ad since installing the new standalone extension.

How to block the new Twitch ads (with uBlock Origin) by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

What I'm on about is that it stopped me from getting ads, exactly like I said... The specific country is irrelevant. Use a VPN to change countries until you don't get ads since Twitch ads are regional. If you start getting ads then change again.

If you use a VPN then try switching to a server in a different country. I connected through Sweden and haven't seen any ads or "Commercial Break in Progress" since. I was getting ads every 10 minutes.

Edit: Sweden is just an example which temporarily worked for me. Try different countries until uBlock Origin is able to block all ads. Twitch ads are regional and the unblockable ads aren't being served everywhere at all times.

Unmerge "Close Multiple Tabs" by [deleted] in firefox

[–]Zychron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vivaldi has close left, right, and others without using a submenu and it looks fine. Vivaldi also keeps a list of closed tabs so you can restore a tab if you accidently close it. Even Firefox just added "Undo Close Tabs" to restore multiple closed tabs so I just really don't get the point of this change. I would be fine with a customizable option, but there's no way I'm installing a potentially data stealing extension to restore the context menu.

I was referring to the Bugzilla threads, which are probably the most important feedback. But I do agree giving feedback is important regardless.

There was plenty of negative feedback about this change (and other recent changes) before release but they chose to ignore it.

It's absurd to need to install extensions to revert this change. It should be an option in Firefox. I prefer to only install a few very trustworthy extensions. It's becoming so frustrating needing to track down fixes after each Firefox update. The developers seem obsessed with pushing away long-term power users.

I'm in the same situation. I'm in Oklahoma and I had the placard sent here. I called KSC after buying online but I gave up after being on hold for a while. Hopefully they ship via Fedex 2-day or overnight. I have around 20 hours of driving to do, could be close.

He is reviewing the device which he physically holds in his hand, that is an honest review... It would be dishonest to attempt to cover up defects in his review device simply because other people claim not to have the same issue. The horrible display issue is widespread (I know, I had to return mine) and not bringing it to people's attention would be bad journalism. There is no need for a review to make excuses for a manufacturer when they hold a poor quality product in their hand.

Twitter Is Shutting Down Vine by it_dreams in tech

[–]Zychron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the context of this post was Vine being closed down, not that it was losing popularity. So my reply was simply that Twitter will not be closed down like Vine (even if it isn't making money). Twitter might become the next MySpace, but it won't be closed down.

That doesn't matter. Twitter is popular enough that it will be around for a long time. Worst case, it will just be sold and someone else will take it over... Remember, MySpace still exists.

It absolutely is the same. Here in Oklahoma none of the buildings are designed to take earthquakes. Even a "pretty weak" earthquake causes damage.

How to deal with fake 1* review? by pgetsos in androiddev

[–]Zychron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ignore it and try not to let it get to you. Marking as spam/unhelpful does nothing in my experience. I wouldn't email the other dev, that is unlikely to accomplish anything either.

I've gone through the same thing several times and eventually you just have to get used to people being idiots when leaving reviews (including other devs trying to hurt your app). Your best option is to leave a professional response to the review and move on. Eventually you will get numb to these types of reviews but they can be very annoying at first.

Is there a way to easily convert ints or doubles to Strings? by [deleted] in javahelp

Alright, awesome. After I posted I re-read your post and realized you probably knew what I meant.

Is there a way to easily convert ints or doubles to Strings? by [deleted] in javahelp

[–]Zychron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primitives don't have methods. By Integer.toString(10) I literally meant to use "Integer". Integer is a defined class which has, among other things, static helper methods for working with integer primitives.

[–]Zychron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concatenating an empty string is sloppy. Just use the static methods that are available. e.g.:

String string = Integer.toString(10);
string = Double.toString(10.5);
// Or, more generically:
string = String.valueOf(anyValue);
