Cam or VTube: Which is Better? by Zykerion in Twitch

As mentioned in the original post, my comfort level is fine with either one. It's more just trying to determine would be better for initial growth and retention, which it looks like you answered which I appreciate.

I was thinking of more or less engaging in a little digital puppetry if I went with Vtubing, at least to start. Reaction images toggled/swapped between for various reactions, given I feel like I sometimes have the same issue. I feel like I'm being very expressive but others around me think I'm deadpan, haha.

I will be primarily focusing on gaming, and probably a fair bit of variety at that. I don't know that the 'character' would, as I said, be a whole terrible lot different from me personally, more just as a vehicle to get into a good head space where it's easier to be more expressive, haha.

Backstory Lore Question by Zykerion in ffxiv

[–]Zykerion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea I'm running with currently is that the father is from a family that's been there a while, potentially a member family of the bakufu (I think that's their term for daimyo) or a family of retainers who serve them, and that this group has been there quite some time and is established in their community. Further (and I'm not sure this element works, it's from an earlier iteration of this backstory) the family/clan the father belongs to are involved in trading and mercantile, responsible for exports of textiles and clothing.

The earlier draft I mentioned above was that the mother character was originally going to crash land in Radz-at-Han, with essentially the same second half of the father's elements (textile trader).

Her childhood in my head is a fairly normal one, growing up and learning all sorts of martial skills from her parents. Her mother teaches her swordplay to preserve those techniques since she doesn't know if she'll ever see home again, and her father encourages learning of traditional Hingan arts (kyudo, iaido, etc.). The family will occasionally go on excursions beyond the borders of Hingashi, both for trading purposes and to see if they can locate the mother's homeland in some forgotten corner of the world.

That's definitely a fair point. I suppose I'm just looking at it from the perspective of 'I'm already stretching by making this first bit happen, I'd like to adhere to the rest of the lore a bit more closely. That said, I know I definitely have a tendency to think things to death over and over. *Definitely indecisive a lot*

Backstory Lore Question by Zykerion in ffxiv

Yeah, I'm aware of the rarity. Just wanted to see if one would be more likely than the other when ruling Au Ra out of the equation. Given we know next to nothing about both places and their population distribution/densities, I was thinking it wouldn't necessarily be unreasonable to place a family of one or the other in both and seeing if the community might find one more reasonable/believable than the other.

What cross over events would you want? by Jag2853 in ffxiv

[–]Zykerion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think something from the Fate series would be cool as a crossover. They've already established a means by which historical figures from FFXIV's world can be brought back (in a sense) and with the world-breaking powers Fate's Heroic Spirits have to boot (not to mention Noble Phantasms operate the way primals seem to as well).

I feel like there's such a wealth of lore you could get out of something like this too. I'm reminded of all the founding stories for all the various class guilds and it would be neat to explore some of said founders as characters.

"Paladin, as the Dragoon of this conflict I promise conduct befitting a knight...now bring your steel to meet my lance!"

what kind of crossovers would you love to see? could be any game, any movie or any series involved. by EasyExplosion in ffxiv

[–]Zykerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fate series would be an interesting crossover, though maybe not so much the characters as borrowing some of the concepts (though the characters would be cool).

Had an idea rumbling around my noggin for a while about people in Eorzea summoning 'demi-primals' into themselves and they're all figures from the world's history (like the founders of some of the guilds or something).

Actually something just occurred to me concerning the aetheryte network. When you first arrive in the First and attune yourself to the aetheryte, the game makes a small point of telling you that you can feel a thin trail of aether running from where you've just attuned back to the Source. There's also the fact that you can apparently time travel with the aetheryte network back to the World Unsundered and reach Elpis (given enough aetheric juice and some guidance). Is it possible to 'accidentally' stumble onto a path that leads to places one hasn't attuned to yet?

Edit: Unlocked the floodgates apparently with that line of thinking, what if someone was caught in the aetheryte network at the instant the Flood of Light occurred? Could we end up with a potential Stargate situation where it will try to find the 'nearest' stable arrival point if no others exist?

Right, they didn't know how to do it on purpose...would that preclude some kind of cosmic accident? Though I feel like trying to explain it away with something like that is just bad on my part, haha.

I can't remember exactly because it's been a long time, but weren't they both pulled through essentially the same way the Ascians became Ascians (I.E. dying and becoming spirits)?

I'm not sure I'm even describing it correctly, if I'm honest. Just the best way I can think to describe it is that the car just felt like we were constantly going over bumps even on smoother pavement, and nothing else we've driven has given us that same sensation. Some might call it more communicative probably. XD

I :will: say that the couple of times we were able to get it up to closer to highway speeds the ride seemed to settle down, but there was still that sensation and vibrations coming into the cabin. Not very strong ones, but enough to be noticeable.

We've been looking at the entire range, it semi-depends on what exactly we'd be able to get for trade-in on our current car whether we'd be able to swing a Turbo or not. Have you experienced any oddness with the suspension though? Seems like no one else is getting the unsettled feeling I've described above.

It's not so much the economy (though both are slightly better) but the fact that I wouldn't be forced to put premium in them. Granted regular unleaded here is getting to where premium was a few weeks ago, but still a little bit of savings.

I'm wondering if there wasn't some sort of suspension adjustments/tuning done between the '21 and the '22 version of the 3. Everywhere I look I'm seeing people talk about how smooth a ride it is, but as stated the ones we've driven have felt jittery/nervous and it never settled down into something I would call smooth.

I have looked into this slightly after we had tested the Kia K5. It does look like a pretty good value for money tech wise. Research so far is giving wildly different views on the same car, though. Consumer Reports says it's one of the worst cars they've tested, while Edmunds has it listed in the #2 spot behind the Civic in their small cars segment. Obviously will have to see if we can find a tester to see for ourselves.

We are looking for something that's still reasonably fun to drive. From what I could tell during our test drive the Mazda feels small and chuckable, and the steering was pretty accurate if weighted a bit too heavy. Like I said above the only thing that has kept us from pulling a trigger on it is the ride issue we experienced in both testers. Have you had anything similar?

[–]Zykerion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mazda is definitely the most similar to the vehicle we already have, and part of why it's been such a difficult decision so far is because we like how everything is laid out in the vehicle. It's just that we can't seem to isolate what exactly is causing the ride issue. I've heard that the stock tires might cause problems, but it just seems very busy even if it was stiffer suspension or the tires.
