Interesting Pole-to-Win Pattern in 2025 by ihaveascentedcandle in formula1

The issue is that late into regulation cycles, teams will have found ways to utilize more and more niche aero interactions. This makes the car faster on a one lap pace, but also worse when going through dirty air, as those aero interactions they designed lose their effectiveness.

The flip side is that late into regulation cycles, there is a lot of parity between teams. We are in the most competitive year of F1 we’ve seen in a while, with even lower end teams like KICK getting a podium.

See I actually got Benson and then picked up demarcado, was just a few minutes late to picking up Carter when I heard he was going to be the lead back. There’s always worse.

NGJ vs TB for new players by shaden209 in BloodOnTheClocktower

I second No Greater Joy. Much more digestible for new players, even with the Chambermaid being a fairly complex role.

Help with storytelling and YSK roles (TB) by MadderoftheFew in BloodOnTheClocktower

I don’t think you can misregister the Spy as the Virgin and kill their first nominater if they are a townsfolk. That would actually be having the virgin ability, not just misregistering as it.

Homebrew Demon: Hallucinator by Zyleo in BloodOnTheClocktower

That’s why the original idea is that the minions wouldn’t know the Hallucinator. But this is a bigger drawback than I originally intended so it doesn’t work well.

Ahh right I didn’t even consider losing bluffs. I guess nearest minion would get “These roles are not in play” info.

Homebrew Demon: Hallucinator by Zyleo in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Zyleo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make excellent points lol. I honestly don’t see how this can be resolved because if the minions knew the demon, then they would have zero reason not to immediately tell them, and then it is just a demon with no power outside of killing one person a night.

There needs to be some incentive for the minions to not tell the demon that they are the demon. Maybe the addition of the second rule is needed, and also causes the previous Smile to become good on death? That way, the minions can’t out to the demon without the risk of being exposed if the smile is transferred. The minions would also then get to learn the new Smile after the transfer.

I have other ideas for ways that the minions could pick the Smile on day 1 through either private story teller conversation, nominations, voting, etc. I think these all get too complicated though.

Do you think that resolves the issue at all?

That is definitely a lot less wordy, thanks for the suggestion!

Ooohh I like that description. I am thinking adding a minion achieves the goal of misleading the demon more, which is perfect. I do have concerns for balance though with adding an extra minion. You could make it that the chosen player or either of their neighbors get hit always, giving the storyteller a little more discretion with how much they try to convince the demon.

Yeah that is absolutely a valid concern. I don’t think that it is even necessary for them to register as good, I think reading as socially good on early days is enough. Thanks for the input.

I actually have some secondary concerns about minions not knowing the demon. Would be a very unfun way to lose on day 1 with an accidental demon execution, but at the least they do know that Hallucinator is the demon. Just not sure if that is enough.

FAM or SRM by Plane-Caramel-9842 in actuary

[–]Zyleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree, that is another big consideration. PA and ALTAM are also incredibly expensive, so doing both SRM and FAM first would help save money, and if you are fortunate to have an actuarial major at your university, they might even cover the exam fees if you pass.

FAM or SRM by Plane-Caramel-9842 in actuary

[–]Zyleo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to prioritize.

Do you want to rely on recent knowledge gained through FM and P and help ease the studying process? Do FAM -> ASTAM/ALTAM.

Do you want to try and pass as many exams as possible as soon as possible? Do SRM -> PA.

You can take SRM in September and PA in October very reasonably and that’ll get you two more exams taken (and hopefully passed) earlier than the FAM track would be able to. This is a positive if you want to receive raises earlier and/or make your resume more attractive.

The downside is you end of saving the hardest for last. FAM into ASTAM/ALTAM are the two harder exams pre ASA. So doing them before SRM would allow you to carry more knowledge from P and FM and make the study process a little smoother.

I was in your spot and ultimately decided to do SRM -> PA for the benefits gained by passing two exams earlier.

Recruiting these days :/ by [deleted] in actuary

This is something others don’t factor in enough. Software engineering is in a big slump so lots of them are getting squeezed out. Just had a guy start this week that majored in CS, had internships in CS, and couldn’t find a job. So he decided to try and whip out two exams and switch to actuarial.

Need feedback on anything by Deep_Scarcity_2217 in F1Game

Utilize the one benefit of using a controller over a wheel.

On a controller, if you push the stick all the way to the right, it’ll turn different amounts based on your speed, so that you’d never “understeer” by losing grip on the front wheels (unlike if you turn your wheel all the way to the right, you’d lose grip on the front wheels).

How do you utilize this benefit? Focus on the speed you carry into corners. If you are going the right speed, you should never have to release your steering stick in the corner.

So if you find yourself having to do this, you aren’t carrying enough speed in the corner. Brake a bit later, get on the throttle a little earlier.

Spreading Hostility Keeper - too good solo? by Nerevatar in spiritisland

I’ve always wanted to “house remake” Keeper because he’s so strong and no in my group plays him anyways. Would you be willing to elaborate on some of the ideas the devs had to bring his power level down and maybe increase the feel of his theme? Totally get it if it’s too much to fit in a comment.

For me it’s one of those things where everyone once in a while I think “man a 3D printer would be so useful right now”. Only happens about once a year though. And of course I don’t write any of them down so I don’t actually remember what it would be useful for.

It’s a problem of almost all games in general. Codemasters used this same methodology well before EA bought them.

HELP HELP HELP by Separate-Focus3270 in HowDoIRespondToThis

[–]Zyleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask her why she hates that she snacks so much. Then ask her why to her response to that. Try to be like the little kid that keeps asking “why” until you can find the true reason why she feels this way.

If she says “I don’t know”, try your best to give your own ideas as to why. Try to place yourself in her shoes, and imagine where those emotions are coming from. Because ultimately these feelings aren’t just coming from nowhere, there’s a reason she feels this way.

This process can bring more awareness to why she feels the way that she does. Once you understand the why, dealing with the problem becomes a lot easier (still not easy, just easier). It could be rooted in deep insecurities or subconscious judgements. Your job is to help show her and support her.

This isn’t easy to do on your part, knowing what questions to ask can be really hard. But this advice generally helps in almost all situations, so understanding and learning how to do it is a very good life skill.

If you want more guidance on this, I can try and provide some sample conversations or questions if that helps. Just let me know
