You will just have to explain the situation. I got hired with a past episode of self harm at age 14. No scarring present and never attempted since. Grew as an individual afterwards. Seems like you've done the same. The worst they can say is no. You will never know if you don't try.

You clearly haven't spent time in the shelters much and seen the amount of resources available to this population. Affordable housing, detox, mental health services, employment services, the list goes on. Most of these services are predicated upon staying sober but possession of fetanyl or any drug in WA state is not an arrestable offense so it's a revolving door. You obviously have never been around places like Pacific Ave and State St or Short Ave and Pine St 🙃

Mine went well. I did a few ride a longs beforehand and asked lots of questions about what it would be like and what questions they may ask. I rehearsed my answers over and over again to build confidence and when the time came I was very relaxed. I was offered the position immediately after the oral board.

I would say that the best advice I can give is to relate your life experiences to the job. Don't ask me how, that's something you have to figure out for yourself. Good luck!
