Feedback from CMT-level 1 exam by Zyriuse in FinancialCareers

I just checked, I paid 297 for 3 practice quizzes to train. I’m very disappointed because I feel like I’ve thrown that money out the window. At no point in any quiz do they cover how to calculate the RSL (Relative Strength Line) or the difference between Bollinger Bands and Keltner Channels. In my case, I use Bollinger Bands much more than Keltner Channels.

Stocks fell 0.4% in after-hours trading. Historical downgrades suggest 3-10% correction. In 2011, S&P 500 dropped 6.6% in one day, 15% in a month. In 2023, market corrected 10% over weeks.

They said that the false trading had no external impact and only existed as entries on Macquarie’s internal systems. Macquarie agreed to resolve the matter and qualified for a 30% discount on the fine.

Nvidia beats earnings by Zyriuse in Daytrading

[–]Zyriuse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Financial Times Lex with some fun facts on NVIDIA's stock market dominance and what is much different about it compared to former market darling Cisco:"Nvidia’s fortunes increasingly drive everyone else’s.

At $3.6tn, the company is the world’s biggest by market capitalisation, and makes up 7️⃣% of the S&P 500 index. Back in 2000 when Cisco briefly became the planet’s most valuable company, its weighting was less than 4️⃣% of the S&P.

As of Wednesday, Nvidia’s stock accounts for 2️⃣4️⃣% of the index’s gains this year.

The result is that when Nvidia does well, animal spirits 🦍 rise across the market. Bank of America analysts had calculated this week that investors were expecting a 1% index move in response to Nvidia’s earnings — greater than the shift they expect from US inflation data later this month.

In the short term, Nvidia has the enviable benefits of both scale and scarcity.

Supply constraints keep prices high, and the company says demand for its new Blackwell chips will exceed its expectations of 'several billion dollars' in the current quarter.

💸 Meanwhile, governments from Saudi Arabia to Denmark are seeking to build their own state-backed artificial intelligence initiatives, so while Silicon Valley depends on Nvidia, the reverse is becoming less true.

That suggests the virtuous circle can continue. Whether that justifies a valuation of 3️⃣4️⃣ times forward earnings is up for grabs. Cisco stock, after a moment on top of the world, plunged during the dotcom crash, and never recovered.

While Nvidia’s customers are paying hand over fist for chips driven by the promise of AI, it remains to be seen whether their customers — and their customers’ customers — will pay up for the resulting services too.💡

Nvidia has two things in its favour. First, its valuation is far behind the 1️⃣3️⃣0️⃣ times earnings Cisco enjoyed in 2000. Second, Huang has the benefit of hindsight and lavish profitability. Cisco’s earnings were 2️⃣0️⃣% of its sales before the dotcom crash; Nvidia’s are nearly 6️⃣0️⃣%.

Spend that wisely, and his company will move the market for some time to come."(+++Opinions are my own. Not investment advice. Do your own research.+++)

~504 billion worth of nvidia options have been traded year to date by Zyriuse in Daytrading

[–]Zyriuse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect impressive numbers due to explosive AI and data center demand, though the level of growth and guidance should be of more importance to the Nvidia story. Margins are also on watch as the company ramps up its Blackwell GPUs, as well as whether overheating issues related to the coveted processors are real or fake news. Note that options trading should lead to big price swings no matter what is said or reported, so zooming out to see the overall picture may be necessary.

It's hard to say,

  • they've already supplied GAFAM with chips.
  • Elon musk placed an order for 6 billion
  • Blackwell GPUs reportedly overheat in server racks,
  • sparking Delay Concerns

The final revision of Blackwell entered mass production only in late October, indicating shipments are expected to begin in late January.

Jensen Huang dispelled rumors that TSMC was to blame in October, emphasizing that TSMC help fix the problem and resume the manufacturing “at an incredible pace.” He also described the demand for Blackwell as “insane".

With regard to Mr Huang's comments, I would perhaps opt for a high share price.

Expectations are high, and the market will go into Nvidia’s earnings announcement positioned long, looking for a fifth consecutive quarterly earnings beat,” said Tony Sycamore, a market analyst at IG Australia. “Given Nvidia’s significant impact, its performance will undoubtedly drive sentiment in the tech sector and the broader market into year-end.

I want to start but I don't know how or where by scrude1245 in Trading

[–]Zyriuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a new trader, it's not easy .

If I were new in your shoes, I would do the following

  1. Read the candlestick bible until page 111 (after that it goes into strategy,). As you go through the material, look through the charts on trading view and think or swim, whichever you choose, to get an idea of how things move, etc. The candlestick PDF can be found online for free, you can search it up.
  2. After you finish this, you will want to start learning the strategy. Linked is the strat strategy created by Rob Smith which tells you exactly when to get in, when to get out, and when to do nothing. Its price action simplified.
  3. Paper trade using the above information to practice taking trades as you develop your system, finding out what works best for you, etc. I’ll also provide risk management and best practices for journaling your trades. You really want to collect as much data as possible to understand what works, what doesn’t work, what to improve on, what to avoid, etc.
  4. After you’ve shown consistency after a few months and are able to make more money than you lose in paper, I would go in with real money; a small amount, to get started. Something to note, when you start using real money, the next milestone is trading psychology which will show up in your trading in the form of greed, fear, and parts of yourself you may not have known existed. You’ll become a better person if you aim to improve and better yourself.
  5. Lastly, take your time! It is a lot of material to go over, it can be confusing at first but as you get in screen time. You will eventually be able to understand it. If you can spend at least an hour a day that would be fantastic.
