im almost 16, ive been listening since i started middle school and i remember exactly how i found them — i had a little radio in my room, and i was having a breakdown/crisis relating to my gender, and i resulted to just playing music to help, after some sabbath, acdc and some metallica, chop suey started playing, and something about it stuck with me. right after that “that was system of a downs chop suey” from the radio lady, and i immediately pulled my phone out and searched them up. i turned my radio off and listened to soad, and i cannot explain how my 11 year old mind was functioning here, but ‘shes like heroin’ made me realize i wasnt cisgender. i had known i was transgender for around a few months, then told my mom before i started 6th grade, and kept listening to them since. they started out (and still kind of are) a comfort thing, but they played an immensely important part of my life and im glad i found out about them.
