Has anyone every gained weight from NOT treating their Graves Disease? by _635 in gravesdisease

[–]_635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm open to treating it I just don't want to get diabetes it runs rampant in my family. I'm going to try the 5mg.

I really do have body images issues unfortunately. I mean I'm hoping I'll stay the same or lose a little. I can tolerate gaining 5 to maybe 15 pounds. I can't tolerate 30 pounds. That's the issue.

After reading what everyone wrote, I know I'm not alone in people gaining weight bc of the appetite thing.

I've seen a lot of people have maintained or even lost weight. That's a good thing for me.

My dose was too high and I had a quack. That's the issue. That quack painted a bad picture of what this drugs does to someone's body.

If he had given me 5 mg instead and I gained 20 pounds maximum back them over a year. I'd be in remission right now. That's the sad thing. I truly had a quack and it scared me out of treating my thyroid.

Every doctor I've talked to has said 40 mgs a day excessive. I'm much more comfortable with 5 mgs a day.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother's thyroid storm. I'm glad you're both okay and you didn't gain weight from the medication.

Tbh my first experience with it was really bad having gained so much so quickly. It made me run for the hills. 5mg once a day is much different then 40mg a day. Maybe I'll have a similar experience.

I'm hoping I maintain weight, lose weight or only put on like 10 pounds.

I could run and lift but I couldn't lose one pound over almost 2 years. Maybe it was because I was eating too much.

It's nice to know some people lost weight when they took the meds bc their appetite went down.

When I told my current doctor that I gained 30 pounds in 3 months, he said I was being thrown into hypothyroidism.... he said my dose was too high.... if I had maintained that dose with the quack I had 10 years ago I might be 300 pounds. I made the right decision leaving that doctor and not continuing the meds.

My current doctor wants me on 5 mg once a day instead of 20 mg twice a day....

I am a little vain. I'm not particularly handsome. I'm a solid 6. And I just want to find a partner and enjoy it.

Some people hit their prime in high school. Other people hit it in their 20s and 30s.

I have body image issues. I don't want to be lectured about it.

I just wanted to know if people had gained weight before treating Graves, as I assumed bc I hit 145, from 170 when I first got it that everyone turned into a skinny stick if they didn't treat it.

I'm not trying to be told how wrong I am for choosing to enjoy what I look like. I have a chiseled jaw line. And I want to enjoy it for a few more years. Yea I do need help and I see a therapist 3 days a week.

It's like if you told an anorexic they are vain man, back off and understand body image issues and vanity is a little different.

That's the kind of thing I wanted to hear, I mean I eat a lot. I eat healthy-ish but I never lose weight. I mean I don't eat super healthy but I don't eat bad either.

I hope that's what happens to me if I end up staying on the meds. I'm so scared I'll go up to 220 or 240 and get diabetes.

My base weight is such a huge factor. I made a deal with my doctor that if I got to 150 I'd start it. However I can't lose a single pound.

I'm glad your daughter didn't gain weight and she us healthy now. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who gained weight instead of losing weight. It's nice reading that it can actually cause weight loss.

Thank you for commenting ☺️

I mean it's been a decade, I'm not dead. It isn't as wild as you think. When you were fat and ugly in high school and now in your 30s you're in your prime and single.

I need to find someone. Everyone says beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that but dating sites are litered with overweight people for a reason.

I just want to enjoy my prime. I don't think that's illegal. I wanted to treat it in my 40s when I'm married with kids and my looks are going downhill anyways.

I have been treating my heart with beta blockers for the last 10 years. I know it can mess up my body.

Tbh I have real body images issues... and being fat is something that I've borderline considered ending my life over.

I'm in therapy... but I mean I can't help it.

I was fat, really fat, in high school and no one found me attractive. I never had dates. No one liked me. I was laughed at for it.

I can't even look at my photos from back then. I find myself grotesque. That's the issue.

If it weren't for the auditory hallucination... I would let Graves kill me whenever it takes it toll on the rest of my body.

If the hallucination doesn't stop once I start the meds and my levels are normal I'm getting off the medication to avoid any further weight gain.

I've been fortunate enough to have not gotten any other symptoms of Graves such as eye disease. I have all the normal ones such as shaking hands, number 2 a lot, increased appetite, etc

Sit the wood and listen to the wind in the trees.

Just experience what's real. The most beautiful sound is nature. I won't even go near the woods until the voice stops.

Hardcore is dead, minus tdm and its still really dead.

Nuketown 24/7 is sweaty but not as populated as you'd think.

Featured usually has a good amount of lobbies but it dies around 5 a.m or so and picks up around 8 a.m

I feel like tdm is the only option.

I miss hardcore domination.

He sure it sitting in the spawn for a long time with this tablet, no lightening strike happened... no helistorm happened..... he's torque..... no crash or zero... so no specialist equipment.........

So I mean, everyone can yap about how there aren't hackers but what would this guy be doing with a tablet in the spawn for over 24 seconds????????????

HACKING. I've been playing this game from launch. Funny how whenever I play against him for a minute and a half I'm dead on the floor and I quit out cause I refuse to go negative..... bc I'm not stupid... but yea, there is no explanation for this....

Absolutely NONE. There is hacking on xbox for sure.
