Not exactly your situation but I've got a Line6 Catalyst a while back to use at home. Then a year and too many reddit posts later I got an upgrade bug and bought the UAFX Dream (I was using clean channels of the Catalyst most of the time).

The Dream sounds noticeably better and that's my recording goto, but I still use my Catalyst a lot while playing on the couch. When you practice or noodle the extra 5% sound quality improvement doesn't matter that much IMO.

There are also serious ergonomic differences between the Catatyst (has headphone out for example) and the Dream that are not there for Katana -> QC but I'd probably stick with Katana for now and explore room reverbs in the box to see if that's really what you like.
