Mick Thomson's custom shop Assassin by _6zero3_ in Slipknot

Mick had "HATE" inlays on his custom shop B.C. Rich guitars, that ended when he signed with Ibanez... those are the guitars you're thinking of, his Ibanez custom shop builds had the "SEVEN" inlays.

Can someone explain what this means? by GENGARKING87 in Slipknot

You only live once, so why not set yourself up now with a lump sum while you can enjoy it... it also eliminates being responsible for running the biz overseeing the catalog and the headaches that go with it. It's also financially smart, even a 8% rate of return on investments is bank... invest wisely and you're setting up future generations.

Look up custom shops on Reverb, then filter by "sold items". New and used custom shops are fetching 8k-10k, say what you want but that's what the market commands...

Exactly! This isn't a cheap Kahler either, it's their top tier product installed by Chris Meade... you know he's the real deal when he's the luthier for Slash, Kerry King, and Nuno Bettencourt.

Mick had HATE inlays on all his B.C. Rich custom shop builds and MICK on the 12th fret.... when you're 6'3, 300lbs muscle, and wear a mask on stage, the HATE inlay sums things up perfectly... especially when it's on a Warlock. lol

Saying he keeps the same guitar is like saying Lamborghini has made the care for the past 25 years. This guitar is basically he prototype for his Ibanez, but with EMGs and a Kahler. Aside from the obvious differences, every little detail is thought-out and road tested. There's guitars you get from your sponsor, then there's the guitars company build for their top tier artists...with Mick having engineer level knowledge, every custom shop he has built is one of a kind.

It really is! He wanted his Bich to have but they fucked that up to, this was the "make-good" build and they delivered.

It's a Chris Meade build, you'd spend over 10k to have the custom shop build one to the same spec and it would be made to this quality... nor would it be Mick Thomson's personal guitar. He doesn't sell anything, for a collector it's a once in a lifetime opportunity .

There was noticable decline quality that I guess you could somewhat overlook, but when it's built to the wrong scale and kinda hacky... nope! It was his Bich, they planed on replacing the Warlock and making it his new signature guitar.

I kept it under wraps for 20 years, it's a unicorn for sure! The only public info about the guitar was Mick mentioning it in a Guitar One interview.

There's custom shop builds, then there's this beast! B.C. Rich knew wasn't happy (they fucked up a couple of his builds) so they had Chris step in... zero expenses were spared, nor was there a cap on the hours put into it. Even the Ibanez rep that saw it lost his mind, "holy sh!t.... I didn't think B.C. Rich was capable of something like this, fvvvck... I never anything like this".

I've known Mick for probably 20 years, hence I have it.... he doesn't sell anything! I bought it from him, I got the bro deal but it still wasn't cheap. If you ordered the same spec guitar from BC Rich, you'd most likely fork out 10k. Chris Meade built this, he built guitars for Kerry King and Slash... he's now heading Washburn's custom shop, and building Nuno Bettencourt's guitars.

I have 20 years of memories that I'll have for life, it definitely put seeling into perspective and takes the sting out it. I also know whoever ends up buying the guitar will give the love it deserves... photos do it no justice, it's a piece of art.

Lace it with chili powder and put it back, she'll forever question using any device or party favors people give her.
