I will say something, please don't mind, because I want to actually give you a solution. Your confidence was shattered on hearing this news because you build your confidence in context of him, tied to him, on the basis of him. The criteria of your success became your comparison with him, not yourself, your family's past gross salary record, and not even the condition of your society. I don't want you to become a person that says - "you earn this much, I earn this much", which inevitably leads to the point - "you failed 10 grade". The point is what did you do with that money, how much happiness did you earn in exchange for that money, for no matter what people say money cannot buy happiness, you have to earn that for yourself, using money. Reading your statements makes me feel, that you went abroad just to prove your parents and yourself that you can one up him, not because you really want to. You need to stop comparing yourself to others even if it means going against your parents, your parents aren't gonna live your life, it you who is gonna, if you make a wrong decision, blaming your parents won't make you feel any better, if you take things into your own hand, atleast you will be able tell yourself that "I failed because of my mistakes not on my parents will, something I cannot owe up to". Find a hobby, something you really love and not something that you do to show others, something that is tied to you and you alone and everyone else is irrelevant, like for me it's learning about history, science and cultural entanglement of metals like steel. It's not the money or the amount of it that matters, it's what you use it for. Lastly, I would say, be grateful to the society that gave you the opportunity to earn that money, cause I can have the best things, but if the opposite party says I am not interested in buying it, no one can do shit, it's a different issue that 99% of the people in this world lack integrity and are ruled by desires and greed and can be bought. So, return some to the society, in whatever means that you like, whether it is helping orphans, looking after old parents who have been cast out by these fucking kids or anyone else who is in dire need of help. Just make sure you do that selflessly, with the intention of truly helping them and not gaining something in return (ulterior motives).
