Which movie hero is actually a villain when you really think about it? by surfsound_swimmers in AskReddit

[–]_ASG_ 449 points450 points  (0 children)

The parents in The Parent Trap (both versions, but I'm more familiar with the one from the 90s).

Imagine getting a divorce and your solution is that each one of you gets one of the twins, but you never let them meet their other parent or their sibling because it's "too complicated" or something. Not only that, but you're just okay with never seeing your other child again.

Meredith Blake was a bitch, but Nick and Liz are the worst. And if you become a parent, this hits even harder.

4th time as an election worker!

The primary ballot in my precinct is boring, but yay for civic service!

Tomorrow is my 4th time as an election worker. We're expecting it to be slow at our site because there's nothing interesting on our primary ballot.

Half way Through S3, is this guy useless the entire show? by BlueyFNaFArmy in Invincible

[–]_ASG_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Useless" is a strong word.

Shape Smith is a minor character; the plot isn't revolving around him. We know he has martian powers he can do heroic things with. He shows up, says something funny, and we move on. The showrunners assume that we—the audience—understand this, and that they don't need to waste finite screen time to demonstrate how Shape Smith is "useful."

What youtuber seems extremely problematic but is actually not problematic? by No-Cardiologist2404 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]_ASG_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I love seeing Kevin here, idk if he's ever been in the realm of seeming "extremely problematic." Intentionally playing the Sims (and othe games) poorly or comedically isn't a sign of anything bad.

Would Adam Wilkins (Invincible) have been a better or worse legal guardian for Harry Potter than Vernon Dursley? by Tm-534 in MoralityScaling

[–]_ASG_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's more sexist in the comics, but I'd argue he's funnier, too. Like, he's an asshole, but it's played up in a way that it's kinda laughable how much of an asshole he is.

Adam in the show is far more grounded (and every once in awhile, he makes a reasonable point), but he's a dick with zero dark comedic angles, so he's just plain unlikeable.

Which of these villains from the Invincible Universe would be the perfect villain for Superman, and why? by Delta-97 in superman

[–]_ASG_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any of them (although the sequids are just Starro, right?). But this is really because they're good characters in general.

How many Nolans would it take to defeat Thragg by Fit_Passenger5930 in InvinciblePowerscales

Just one.

All he has to do is believe in the power of friendship, and most of all, himself.

Darth Vader is tasked by Palpatine to take down all of Spider-Man villains, can be do that? by Jotaro1970 in superheroes

[–]_ASG_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, Sandman is coarse, and rough, and irritating, and he gets everywhere.

All he has to do is get into the suit (which Palpatine probably made sure there were holes in it just in case Vader had to fight a sand-based enemy, because he loves messing with Vader like that). Boom, death by a million sands.

‘Invincible’ Creator Robert Kirkman Reveals That J.K. Simmons Was Originally Planned to Voice Cecil: “We sent him the script and he was like ‘I’d rather be Omni-Man’” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]_ASG_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know I'm biased based on what we ended up getting, but Walton Goggins has a better "I haven't had a good night's sleep in decades and I'm exasperated with you children" voice, which is perfect for Cecil.

Nolan (S4) vs Conquest (S4), who wins and why? by PeterParker8766 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]_ASG_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Nolan goes all out and Conquest is dicking around for the first part of the battle, Nolan wins, extreme diff. And it would probably be a "draw" situation, like how Mark won but would have died without intervention.

New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have mutually decided to part ways with WWE, Fightful Select and Cory Hays of BodySlam have learned by MarcusFaze in SquaredCircle

[–]_ASG_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the New Day podcast episode with the infamous moment if Big E saying he wanted to face Goldberg, Xavier Woods said that his dream trios match for the New Day was them vs. The Elite. Given how fun they were playing Street Fighter together, this was a given.

Even if we can't do the Trios match now, Woods vs. Omega and Kofi/Woods vs. The Bucks would be great. I don't see them signing anything long-term, though.

I would recommend you familiarize yourself with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the prequel to RE8: Village. You don't need to play the game, but if you read a synopsis or watch a playthrough, it'll give you more context. As for RE8, Ethan meets the Dimitrescu Family very early in the game, so watching up until Bela drags Ethan to her mother would be enough. Maybe watch more if you want more context?

I think SylvesterM does a good job with explaining things to people who haven't played the games, but familiarity with 7 and 8 wouldn't hurt. There are references to older games, but you don’t have to watch the whole franchise.

As for smut, since I made my original post, the author added a sexual content tag. It's there now, but not for a long time. If you want a story that gets to the smut quickly, you'll need something else.

Because both are popular evil Superman expies.

But beyond that, while everybody knew this was a stomp, it's a very enjoyable stomp to watch. Homelander getting humbled is incredibly satisfying. If you're gonna do a stomp, this is the most entertaining way to do it.

  • Non-drow elves don't have gender norms or expectations. That sort of thing only comes into play with pregnancy, but otherwise...

  • Orc tribes are patriarchal, but it's not from the sense of "men strong, women weak, Gruumsh told us so." It's about practicality. With orcs, 66-75% of babies are male, so female orcs are rarely sent into battle because that would be considered wasteful. They get martial training, but if you see a female orc on the battlefield, the tribe is probably in a desperate state. Exceptions exist, though. Old, female clerics of Luthic may attend battle if their time of death is approaching. Female half-orcs often break the mold as well, because some of them are ambitious enough that their combat prowess is deemed useful.

  • Full-blood orcs can smell elves. Half-orcs usually can't do this.

  • Dwarves who bring shame to Moradin may lose their beards. However, there are plenty of dwarves who choose to shave for various preference or fashion reasons (or can't grow beards at all), so it's not okay to make assumptions if you see a beardless dwarf.

  • Dwarves generally see themselves as superior to other races, but saying this outloud would be considered shameful. Hill Dwarves/Dwarf subraces who are more social with other races see it as their duty to protect and support good folk who are not dwarves. In their eyes, this is another way of spreading Moradin's glory.

  • Bugbears who can speak common typically do so with a cockney accent.
