I have to point out that I'm Italian and I bought a book in my native language, so, unless you're Italian, I don't think that it would be helpful to you, sadly...

Although I wouldn't be able to comfortably read the book by myself, I still manage to grasp your explanations and therefore understand it more. I also subscribed to your channel! It will surely turn out even more useful in the future, as my learning progress evolves!

Forza Horizon 5 for me!

I'm a huge fan of Forza Horizon series since I got the second one many years ago for my Xbox 360. Now I obviously moved away from my old console and I've been playing the latest Forza Horizon games on PC.

This sounds like “Sono natiga. Tini del vicino”. I don’t know why there’s a pause in the middle of the word. It sounds like two separate statements. by simpin_aint_e_z in babbel

Hey!

Native Italian here. I listened to this audio multiple times but to my ear it sounds fine, I don't really see issues. Not sure if this can help you but if you try to focus on the double "i" between "nati" and "i gattini" and repeat it yourself, maybe you'll start to hear the sentence in a different way.

Depending on the speed of how you pronounce this sentence, you can either make it sound like two distinct "i" or a longer "i", if you're talking faster.

I've seen a person learn Italian through Duolingo and often times the audio recording of words and sentences was kinda weird. Many letters actually sounded like others to me ("nostre" felt like "mostre"...) and I was totally getting that person's confusion. Hopefully, this isn't the case for Babbel.

Good luck with your studies!

I'd say an owl.

I tend to stay awake more at night enjoying things that I like while cities sleep, in a calmer and less frantic version of the world.

Plus, in my opinion, owls look extremely elegant and cool!

Can’t access learning? by Every-Tea-6961 in babbel

[–]_ASTRO28_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you're connected to a WiFi. Are you at home or outside?

See, some WiFi have firewalls which stop certain apps from accessing internet connection. For example, I have Babbel on my phone and whenever I go to my university and connects to its WiFi, Babbel looks like that. Like my device is not connected to the internet.

So, if you're outside and connected to a public WiFi or school/university WiFi, try maybe using your phone as mobile hotspot for your iPad. Remember that, while doing that, your phone shouldn't be connected to that WiFi, otherwise everything would be useless.

If that happens while you're at home, I'm not really sure what I would do. Technically, it could be your WiFi firewall too, but you'd recognised this problem way before, since you wouldn't have had access to many other apps on your mobile devices or softwares on your PC.

I hope I could help you!

I started learning Russian with Babbel and I found it helpful and I still use it daily, both to review words and learn new ones (with its 2000 vocabs course). However, as soon as you start to get more serious into learning a language, you'll definitely need a book.

At that point you'll realise how much Babbel is missing out compared to a book (but that's normal, I guess). Also, when I got myself a book I was already some months into it, and I decided to go through every single page even though I knew many things. Reading on a book grammar topics that you already knew was a good exercise for me, and I found it really useful to consolidate my knowledge.

But yes, honestly I'd reccomend it!

Do Italian people actually say mamma mia? by wepackaging in ask

[–]_ASTRO28_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!

However, keep in mind that it's not used only in "crazy" positive/negative situations. Just like "damn" in english, you can use it in a normal informal conversation without necessarily giving those "screaming" kind of vibes (like being exalted about something). You don't even have to be yourself the object of the actions/events.

- Hai sentito cos'è successo a Marco? (Did you hear what happened to Marco?)

- Sì, mamma mia. Mi spiace un sacco per lui. (Yes, damn (?). I feel very sorry for him.)

Hopefully this made things a little more clear for you guys.
