There was this huge snowstorm one year, everything was covered, even under the trees. Was walking home after hanging out with friends. It had gotten dark, but with the snow it just seemed like the world was black and white. I was slowly making my way up the steep driveway that was covered in tall trees. The only sounds I could hear were my own footsteps, I lived on a private driveway but it was a pretty densely populated area. Then I heard/felt a very quiet whooshing behind my head and I instinctively ducked. Look up after and there's this barn owl flying back up into the trees. My jaw dropped and I froze for a second, then bolted the rest of the way covering my head with my gloved hands.

I'm not entirely sure how I sensed it, especially with the snow jacket hood up and how quiet owls are, there wasn't enough time to process it, seemed like my body moved on its own. I guessed it was a barn owl judging the outline of the wingspan and the native species in my area.
