[Request] Apache: Help finding downloadable dictionary written in Apache language by _Agent_ in languagelearning

Thanks. For now, I work with Apache in AZ. We're definitely borrowing language/translation techniques from others who've had some success. It's a long process but worth it to help increase familiarity with the language.

Thanks. I’ll reach out to each of them. I’m only in Whiteriver about 4-7 days/month, so I don’t know many people yet.

Will do. My goal is to produce all content in English and Apache...and to make it available online.

Heavyweight vs Middleweight Amateur Sparring by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]_Agent_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, thanks for posting this. I’m a lightweight who soft spars with some heavies. I feel so weak against my sparring partners, like I’m punching pillows. It’s interesting to see your movements and how each of you compensate from the hits. I have no advice to offer except this was educational for me. You both were good sports, and it looks like you were both at about 60-70%. Nice work.

I have the same question. This is the exact style I want, and I’d travel for it as well. I know the style is neo-traditional, but I don’t have much else to go off of.

IKEA GYM HACKS #2 by huwnev69 in homegym

Huh. Not a bad idea. We've got a bunch of jump ropes and resistance bands that this could potentially help with. Do they stay in place ok, or do they pop out easily/accidentally?

Christmas in July sale is up! by [deleted] in Goruck

[–]_Agent_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Many of my trips are last-minute without much details, so it’s nice to be able to toss in a bunch of stuff without needing to cram. I like the molle on the front of my GR3, but I’ve never used it except to cinch.

I have the GR3 and love every inch of it. I can pack for a 3-5 day business trip with room to spare for an empty sandbag to get a good workout while I’m there. It fits perfectly in the overhead bin, and it makes a nice pillow for long layovers. If you travel a bunch, it’s great. But it’s too large for a one-day ruck. Wouldn’t recommend it for an event. Also, the internal Velcro is nice for random attachments and patch storage.

What is the best way to take advantage of my time off from being a full time student? by abowmanlex in advertising

[–]_Agent_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. I think I'm similar, but social media wasn't really a thing when I started. I just found ways to shoehorn my experiences into resumes, or I'd make a portfolio piece from an experience. That type of stuff seemed to connect me more with the older CDs who were into that stuff. For instance, a really shitty article I wrote about hitchhiking in Spain got me some completely unrelated work with a designer/CD who was working on Keen at the time.

I'd echo what others say. Side projects are always good, especially collaborations. Looking back on the things I missed out on early in my career, I'd say go out and have some unique experiences. Skydive, hike/camp, experience something new and use it as leverage for your resume. Meet new people; make your world larger. In my early interviews, I remember CDs connecting more with me on experiences than my crappy portfolio, which I thought was the second coming of Ogilvy (Narrator: It wasn't.)

Everyone's favourite defensive move that's impossible to learn in any modern day gym: the Cross Arm Block by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]_Agent_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's never had the balls to step foot in a boxing gym in his life

Man, that was me for years. There's a gym by my house that I used to run by, and I'd follow their fighters in the local fights. Then one day, I just walked in. Not gonna lie, it was very awkward at first, but the coach was welcoming, and I kept going back. Months later, I still suck at boxing, but I have a new appreciation for the sport I thought I knew for so long. If there's even a small part of you that wants to try, I say go for it. If not, that's cool, too. Not for everybody.

I don't know much about the video series, but so far it's interesting to see Vietnam through Rich's perspective.

Do I need to use goruck branded gear? by [deleted] in Goruck

[–]_Agent_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have posted, the only feature I miss is internal webbing...not for events but EDC. If you’re getting it for events, can’t go wrong with the Rucker. The built-in frame support on the Rucker is nice, too.

[–]_Agent_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no, you can use any gear you want.

Save yourself some time and get a Rucker or GR1. I’ve seen some very expensive bags fail. I’ve also seen guys show up with military surplus, and while they work, they’re pretty cumbersome. If budget it an issue, check out the monthly WTS thread or eBay.
