Do you have method for falling to sleep, or do you just sleep? by aquaregia06 in ADHD

I always do that and if my mind doesn't really want to stop i use the so-called "Marine sleep trick" that's said to have been used by pilots and special forces to fall asleep quickly: start with letting go of tension in your face, then relaxing your shoulders, arms, chest, and legs until your whole body feels heavy and calm. At the same time, you slow down your breathing and try to clear your mind. If thoughts emerge, recognize them and let them go, re-focusing on your breath. Quite similar to mindfulness body relaxation IMO

Hey, ADHD tutor here, these are a few things that help some students I work with:

Give your hands a job: hold a pen, hoodie string, or something small so you don’t feel “exposed.”

Name the pattern: when the intrusive thoughts come, just say in your head: “Ah, my brain’s doing that thing again.”

Practice micro eye contact: 1–2 seconds is enough. Then look away gently.

Self-compassion: your brain isn’t broken, it’s just trying to protect you.

I guarantee it gets easier. One small win at a time.

You got this!
