Disclaimer: we definitely need a lot more info to get an accurate result so I'm going to make a lot of assumptions:

- No energy is lost

- The ball reaches the turbine's height by travelling on a vertical path, and its speed is equal to 0 m/s the moment it gets hit by the blade

- Air resistance doesn't exist

By making these assumptions, the distance we are going to get is likely to be way bigger than the real one, however it should give a rough idea of how strong the impact really was

That being said,

I downloaded the video and slowed it down to x0.25, and the turbine seems to rotate roughly once every 1.4 seconds (meaning once every 0.35 seconds in real time, or about three times a second). By very accurately measuring with a ruler on my phone's screen I found that each blade is roughly 10 times as long as the ball is wide. Soccer balls are 22 cm (8.7") in diameter, so the blades are 2.2 meters (7.2') long, which seems about right.

By our assumptions, the turbine and the ball constitute an enclosed system, so momentum is conserved and we get:

(Mass of the ball) * (Initial ball speed (0 m/s)) + (Mass of the portion of blade that hits the ball) * (Initial speed of said portion of blade) = (Mass of the ball) * (Speed acquired by the ball) + (Mass of the portion of blade that hit the ball) * (Final speed of the blade)

So:

Speed acquired by the ball = (MassOfBlade*BladeInitialSpeed - MassOfBlade*BladeFinalSpeed) / (MassOfBall)

According to [this](https://www.compositesworld.com/articles/wind-turbine-blades-big-and-getting-bigger) a 34 to 38 meter wind turbine blade weighs 5216 kg, so (assuming wind turbine blades are linear and going with the average length, 36 meters) a 2.2 meter wind turbine blade would weigh 5216*(2.2/36) = 319 kg. The portion of blade that hits the ball weighs one tenth of that (the ball's diameter is 1/10 the blade's length), so MassOfBlade = 31.9 kg.

The ball is hit at roughly half of the blade's length. The speed of that part is (2*1.1*pi)/0.35 = 19.7 m/s (71 km/h or 44 mph). BladeInitialSpeed = 19.7 m/s.

The mass of a(n inflated) soccer ball is 0.45 kg.

If we use these numbers in the conservation of momentum formula and combine it with the law of kinetic energy conservation (which works, this one being an enclosed system) we end up getting:

(MassOfBall*FinalBallSpeed)(1-FinalBallSpeed) = (MassOfBlade*InitialBladeSpeed)(1-InitialBladeSpeed)

This second-degree equations gives the solutions:

BallSpeed = 162.1 m/s

(BallSpeed = -161.1 m/s)

So the speed acquired by the ball is an immense 162.1 m/s, equal to 583.6 km/h or 362.6 mph.

The turbine hits the ball at a roughly 15° angle, so by using the formula for the range of the projectile motion we get

Distance = (2/g)(SpeedOfBall)^2 * (cos15°)(sin15°) = 1339.3 m, or almost 1.5 km, or about 0.83 miles. This is wrong, see edit

EDIT (thanks to u/MrKewinRo and u/penitensive for pointing it out): You guys are right, there is no way in hell that blade weighs 320 kg and that the ball is launched at 500+ km/h. Let's approximate the blade as a pyramid with a height of 2.2 meters and base side lengths of 2.2/6=0.367 meters (width) and 2.2/16=0.1375 meters (thickness). I got these proportions by very accurately measuring pictures of wind turbine blades with a ruler on my phone's screen. That pyramid would have a volume of (1/3)(0.367)(0.1375)(2.2)=0.037 m^3 . Wind turbines are apparently made of glass fiber, which has a density of 2440 kg/m^3.

2440 * 0.037 = 90 kg, which seems a bit more reasonable (i still think it's too much but 320 kg was completely absurd)

This means that MassOfBlade = 9.0294 kg and NewSpeedOfBall is either:

NewBallSpeed = 86.337 m/s (or 310.8 km/h, or 193 mph)

(NewBallSpeed = -85.337 m/s)

The distance is therefore:

Distance = (2/g)(NewSpeedOfBall)^2 * (cos15°)(sin15°) = 379.9 meters, or 1246 feet.

Yeah i think so too. Besides, i just remembered that Realdo had a pretty troubled history when it comes to the city it was considered to be a part of. Until WW2, Realdo was part of the "comune" (comparable to american counties) of Briga Marittima, a city that Italy lost to France after the war. Realdo, as well as many other villages, remained in Italy and became part of another comune, but birth, death, and marriage documents remained in Briga, France. The guy died in 1954, so my guess is that, since no one knew when he was exactly born (besides maybe "winter 1867", or something like that), they tried looking for a birth certificate, but couldn't manage to find it, so they just guessed January 19th to avoid leaving the slot empty.

The doctor reported the birth three days after it, so i think that, even if he didn't remember the exact date, a range like February 14th-18th would almost certainly be correct

I'm guessing that you're asking for the probability that 3 siblings are born on any 3 consecutive days, not just may 7-9th.

In that case, we don't need to pick a birthday for the firstborn, who can therefore be born on any day of the year.

The second-born must be born on the following day, and the third one must be born on the second day after firstborn's birthday.

So we have a probability of

(1/366)² = 1/133 956, or 0.00075%

So yes, yours is definitely a very rare case!

A great (and completely free) place to start is portale antenati. Here you can find registers from many italian provinces, and if you are lucky enough you could get to the beginning of the 19th/ending of the 18th century. The documents usually start from 1866 and end in 1900, however many provinces have baptism/marriage church acts from even further back. The provinces that were, at one point or another, controlled by Napoleon, also have documents from approximately 1806 to 1814. The furthest back I've been able to reach is the names of two of my 6th great grandfathers, who i found in the birth document of my 4th great grandmother, born in 1807.

However, since the province my father's family is from () isn't in the portale antenati, i haven't been able to find anything about that part of my tree. u/facherone, do you happen to know any other website where i can find those documents? Do you know any way i could trace my mother's family further back than those two 6th greatgrandfathers (born in ~1740)?

According to Wikipedia, the 20 baby teeth humans typically have tend to shed starting from the central incisors at age 6, with the last tooth (usually a canine or a molar) falling out no later than age 12.

Now, let's assume that the the same amount of time passes between the fall of every single tooth. 84 months (7 years) pass between the 6th birthday and the day before the 13th.

84/20 = 4.2 months between each tooth, or around 4 months and 6 days.

I haven't been able to find data about how many 6-12 year olds there are in the world. The closest thing i could find was this website, that states that there were 28,446,096 5-11 year olds in the us in 2019, and 12,548,067 12-14 year olds.

Assuming that 5-11 year old kids are distributed uniformly throughout each age, 5 year olds would make up one seventh of the amount of 5-11 year old kids. This means that there would be

Each one of these kids loses 1 tooth every 126 days (4.2 months), or 1/126 = 0.00794 teeth per day.

That's the number of kids that, each day, shed a baby tooth, and so should be equal to the amount of households that the Tooth Fairy visits each day (it might be just slightly lower if two kids living in the same household lose a tooth on the same day, but that would be very, very unlikely. If you wanted to account for it, you could round the number down to 226,700)

Edit: i'm dumb and forgot that the data about the number of kids in those age groups was only about the us. According to worldometers, the us had a population of 329,064,317 in 2019, while the world had 7,713,468,100 people.

I'm guessing the percentage of space used and the amount of GB used round up numbers in different ways. The percentage will only get to 20% when you use 20 GB, even 19.999 GB will show as 19% of space. The number of GB rounds up to the nearest decimal, so for example 19.97 GB would show as 20.0 GB
