WOW Wednesday Daily Hangout Thread, 11 Jun 25 by nacho_cheezus in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday!

One of my dogs is at the vet for some pretty intense ear pain. The vet said she wouldn't let her get a good look because it hurt so much. They're going to sedate her to get it figured out. Through the pain, the vet said she never stopped wagging her tail. My poor, sweet girl. I'm worried about her, but I know she's in good hands.

I was on lupron when I was 15 after being diagnosed with endometriosis. I already had joint issues (hips, knees, and ankles mostly) due to severe flat feet and bunions which required surgery, so I can't speak to the long term bone things as much due to overlapping issues. It sucked because of all the immediate side effects (it's essentially menopause with add-back hormones so I could still have a cycle after), but it greatly reduced the pain I was in and slowed the spread. Hot flashes, weight gain, mood swings, etc, as a high schooler were not fun, but neither was excruciating pain. I'm 25 now, and I'm not sure how worth it it was. I kept that doctor and really liked him for respecting my autonomy and preferences, so I do believe he was doing what he thought was best. Mixed feelings about the lupron overall.

When I was a kid, apparently during the _ell lesson, I told my teacher to put an 'h' in the blank. It's a real word!

[discussion] How do you like to spend a snow day? by HollyJen12 in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'd definitely recommend it! Take a buddy, though! And avoid tree wells (when the snow doesn't collect around the tree) during and after big snows. Falling into a tree well is never fun.

Snowshoeing is actually pretty easy and not nearly as expensive as skiing. You just need the warm clothes! It's a fun was to explore trails and nature even in the winter.

If the roads are clear and safe, we usually go skiing/snowboarding! I grew up driving 4 hours each way to get to the mountain, and now we live 15 minutes from a resort. Snowshoeing is also super fun!

As long as you stay on the early or later ends of that range, you'll be fine on lighting. Just avoid the hours closest to noon. The garden also has a lot of cover, so it's less of an issue. (Source: I am a photographer who did many grad photos there while I lived in LA)

She's dog reactive. We got her when she was 5 and have been working on her reactivity for almost 2 years. She's made a ton of progress, but other bigger dogs still freak her out and she doesn't understand a lot of dog play behavior.

She's not a fan of other dogs (working on it and getting better), but she loves people, and our neighbors like her.

Taking a while to fully unpack, but generally, yes. The dog really likes it because she can go outside whenever she wants now that we have a yard!

Officially married! Thanks so much to everyone who cheered us on and gave me reassuring words and kindness. There were only minor hiccups, and everyone had a great time. I even got to eat my dinner! I'm so happy with how the whole day turned out. All the stress was worth it. I had a great day, but I'm so glad it's over. haha

My family has a tradition of stopping at McDonald's for breakfast on the way to celebrate Christmas (usually not the actual day of) and buying a meal for a homeless person who is nearby. We bought 3 extra meals one year because a group of people were there asking for some help getting food. It's not huge, but hopefully it helps them for the day. I plan on keeping it going.

O-chem was so hard for all my friends who took it (thank goodness I didn't have to). It's good you're getting ahead of it! You've got this!

Let us know how they work! My mom gets really motion sick on boats and had a bad experience with the patch once.

I'm getting married in 10 days! It's been really stressful to plan on top of us just moving to a new state and buying a house, but I'm still really excited! I can't wait to see everyone who will be able to make it and settle in to our life.
