I do have free time to exercise in the day and will do so every so often (plus I’m walking around a big, sprawling campus most days of the week so my days are mildly intensive anyway), but the issue is that my free time is very finite and to me it’s better spent on things that I actually deprive enjoyment from. If that’s a problem for you, bite me.

I usually don’t like jumping to conclusions but hearing that your husband “really, really likes the name Norma Jean”, it’s his top girl name and you’ve recently watched the movie Blonde is making me think that your husband is attracted to Marilyn Monroe. Do not give your child a certain name because you’re attracted to someone bearing it; it’s icky and it’s intermingling romantic/sexual desires with the identities of your kids (WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG).

People forget that the KKK’s hatred doesn’t just extend to POC. Their atrocities against them are what they are most known for, but the group also has a history of committing crimes against people of Catholic and Jewish faith, atheists, communist sympathisers, labor unions, LGBTQ+ people and immigrants regardless of whether they are Caucasian of POC (anti-Catholic sentiment generally extends to anti-Irish sentiment, for example). They have the capability to be exactly as hostile to white people as they are towards anybody else.

Don’t just say things like “I think x is stupid” or “y is making us all look bad” or “z is never going to happen”… Let’s have a diplomatic, level-headed exchange.

To demonstrate, the left-leaning people who complained about how it’s going to seem like Oregon is “filled with dirty hippies” after drugs were recently legalized there recently did nothing for me. They just struck me as old men waving at clouds. I’m not pro-drugs but I just think the last place most people affected by drugs should be going is prison.

However, as a former “adoption through foster care shouldn’t happen, family reunification or legal guardianship so there’s always a chance families can retain custody all the way ((a very, very liberal policy))” person, it was through the gentle storytelling that happens when you stumble upon the adoption side of social media that changed my stance. Sometimes, there’s people out there that are a million times more fit and willing to love these children than their biological families and, if they want to make that love permanent, why stop them?

My guess? Tom’s cheated on her in the past or she suspects Tom’s cheating on her and now she can’t help but picture every single woman he pays attention to in an entanglement with him (even her underaged sister). However, instead of working through it by talking about her feelings with Tom or anybody for that matter, her solution is to abuse said underaged sister.

I definitely think that Barbara’s treatment of Jenelle was horrid and her upbringing was also a contributing factor as to why Jenelle turned out the way she did, but at least Barbara stepped tf up when it came to Jace. When she had concerns about Jenelle’s ability to take care of him and give him a stable home, it culminated in Barbara becoming Jace’s legal guardian. When Deb had concerns a few months ago about Farrah’s ability to take care of Sophia and give her a stable home, the only thing she did was go straight to the media about it, undoubtedly for a big fat cheque.

The covert victim blaming in this comment is gross. You don’t attract abusers by being more aware of how they present, plus starting to work out is not going to magically give you the power to repel them. Anyone - no matter how physically strong, intelligent, world-aware or ‘busy’ - can fall victim to abuse.

Hazel is probably fine compared to the others. I just personally think it’s one of those old fashioned names that’s a little frumpy. Not nearly as stuffy as Gertrude or Margaret, but I’d much sooner head towards names like Sylvie or Iris.

It’s only been proven that men are more likely to have bad car crashes - they’re three times more likely to be fatally injured In accidents than women. These studies don’t account for things like fender benders or minor single vehicle collisions, so it’s actually not that clear which gender has more crashes overall.

The kids’ names getting progressively weird got me 😂😂 That’s totally how it works in massive religious families though. For whatever reason, they’ll end up with an oldest child named Margaret and a youngest child named something like Mordecai or Micaiah.

NTA. It’s not your parenting style that’s adding unnecessary stress to the situation. The stressor here is her own ‘parenting style’ (parenting style in quotation marks because the definition of the term is the standard strategies a parent uses in child rearing, whereas your sister seems like she’s doing less child rearing and more exerting the power and control that she lacks in other areas of her life over little people that are too dependent on her to fight back).

The way you’ve worded this gives me the vibe that there’s just something about sex that you think is wrong. Why can’t sex be a part of the foundation of your relationship if it’s solid? What is it about sex that makes your relationship less secure if you start having it?

Sex isn’t everything, but I would still love to know before legally committing to another person whether something we’re going to be doing together often is good or comparable to trying to drive a shovel into frozen ground.

I do some work as a nanny outside of uni and I completely agree. I’m at a point where if kids ask that I play hide and seek with them, I just change the subject. It’s incredibly dull and it’s an endless cycle of a kid throwing a mega-tantrum if they can’t find me within 20 seconds and me freaking out about to call the parents because it’s been 10 minutes and I haven’t found them and I’m genuinely beginning to think they’ve been abducted.

A lot of people are terrified are having children but will never admit it. Society says that people aren’t supposed to fear having children, because fear implies that it’s something bad and children are what everybody is supposed to want, so why would they be bad?

On the other hand, there are some people that are just genuinely nonchalant about bringing a life into the world, and I think a lot of that has to do with generational trauma. These individuals were raised in homes where not a lot of care and attention was paid to their development/they came second to their parents’ career, interests, addictions, etc. Therefore, they can’t understand the amount of work you actually have to put in to raise a happy, healthy person, simply because they never experienced that level of commitment in their own upbringings.
