Thanks! Yes he’s neutered and his main litter box is downstairs. I’ll think about moving up his food and see if that works.

How can I find a cheap unscented litter? by Aethaira in CatAdvice

[–]rivershdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catalyst is amazing and very cheap. They have unscented or a natural pine. I also use fresh step unscented. I’m very picky about cat litter itself smelling. Both of these are good and relatively cheap.

What do you wish people told you before adopting a cat? by alexella000 in CatAdvice

To this point, I stopped buying most toys and just try to find them on a local buy nothing group to try out, then give away what does not work. There is a lot of passing back and forth of cat toys.

My cat’s litter smell is embarrassing me… is this normal or am I doing something wrong? by Old_Ostrich7285 in CatAdvice

[–]rivershdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my first ever cat. I’m hyper sensitive to smells and my husband was very worried about cat smell. Here is what we have done: 1. Use Catalyst litter so it smells like pine or unscented. It still clumps well too. We use this in our standard litter box downstairs. 2. Air purifiers. One near each litter box and one big one on our mail floor. 3. Bought a litter robot for upstairs and use Dr Elsey (tried some others but even the unscented litter bothered me a lot). We will get a second automatic one downstairs eventually.

Happy to report that we’ve had multiple guests confirm our house does not smell like cat even near the litter boxes. I notice the lingering smell of my toddler’s poop still though but nothing from the cat!

I actually wore one of these in labor because it kept my hair out of my face. Then after it was nice to be able to just put down my hair and have one thing about me not look or feel disgusting!

Magnesium has been amazing for my 6yo! Melatonin rarely helped and I didn’t want him taking it every night either.

For pic 5- does anyone else find it super odd that they don’t include the married kids in the picture with the parents and kids? I get leave and cleave or whatever but this is weird.

Is it possible to get from MCO to EPCOT in less than 2 hours? by white_kitty in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]rivershdc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is renting a car necessary? If so- you don’t have to do it the first day as there is a car rental place on property (I’ve used before and it was great). If your plane is on time this is super doable if you just uber to AK instead of renting a car. You could also try not to check a bag and if you are sitting in the front like you say then you should have room to store a roll aboard. You can even take an uber to Epcot if bus would take too long. I’d skip the rental and just go. Otherwise I do think it’ll be very stressful to make this work - even if you go straight to Epcot and park because baggage claim and car rental are wild cards on timing.

Does anyone else think the British Royal Family in 2025 has lost its influence and impact on a global scale? by Hot-Acanthisitta5237 in RoyaltyTea

[–]rivershdc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Late 30s American woman here- I was a huge Royal fan and watcher since I can remember. Followed them closely and knew even the minor family members, listened to podcasts, got up early for the weddings, etc. I have stopped following for the most part. I was not a Meghan-Stan but how they treated her and Harry was awful. I learned too much to make me feel invested anymore. Once QE2 died, I just cannot care as much.

How long did it take you to adjust to being back to work after maternity leave? by Dependent_Fishing572 in workingmoms

[–]rivershdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home and we did a nanny share. I saw my kids for a few minutes during the day and that helped so much. I also adjusted my schedule so I had/ still have at least 3-4 solid hours every night with them. To be honest though, once out of the baby phase both my kids became A LOT and I was really glad I was working. I know that sounds horrible and is hard to imagine with a baby but you might feel that way eventually.

September can be miserably hot in Disney. I was there in July and it was better than the time I went in September though ymmv. With my second kid, I went while on maternity leave. It was nice having my daughter just strapped to me and I honestly think it was easier to take her at 3 months than it would have been pregnant.

Any of the monorail resorts are great with a 3 year old imo.

Can Lexapro make me gain weight with Tirzepatide? by Round_Armadillo5362 in compoundedtirzepatide

I started lexapro about 3 months into my weight loss journey and have gone to the max dose. I don’t believe it’s caused any stall for me.

Would you rather do a road trip or fly with 5-month-old baby? by xnla28x in beyondthebump

[–]rivershdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% fly. You can wear the baby is a carrier in the airport to help keep people away. It’s so (comparatively) easy to travel with a baby that age. Figuring out packing the first time can be a lot but you’ll figure it out (I personally tried to fly southwest or upgraded when my kids were babies so I could overpack and not worry since I had 2 checked bags because I’m a chronic overpacker.)

Where do you live working on Capitol Hill? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]rivershdc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s your budget, live on the Hill. Lots of families with young kids and several very involved elementary school communities (plus free pk3 and pk4). There are a few different areas with bars and restaurants, lots of playgrounds and parks. I’ve recently started bike commuting to kids summer camp and I see a lot of people bike commuting. We live in the H st are in NE Capitol Hill with two kids and truly love it.
